The taste is obviously of oatmeal, and is a little watery. It’s quite tasty though, and has a nice aftertaste. vyvvy (2068), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 10, 2007 Pours very dark brown with a soapy tan head. The aroma has roasted malt, chocolate and diacetyl butteriness. Medium body that is fairly smooth at first and ends with just a little bit of carbonation and with a sharpness. Flavors start with roasted malt, just a bit of chocolate and some butteriness. The finish gets quite astringent and comes off metallic / medicinal with a cola like sharpness. As the beer warms the diacetyl becomes more and more apparent. A fair stout. DrnkMcDermott (1865), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jan 5, 2007 .5 L import bottle, "Best Before 4 Apr 07. Our supply of Youngs is dwindling away, and this is likely the last one I’ll get to rate. Nice black pour with a tan head. Whiff of Coca-cola from afar, touch of Guinness sourness close up. Taste has some roastiness, low carbonation tries to match the texture of a cask pour, but can’t get it right. I should hope to find the canned version with the nitro widget, but this isprobably the only chance at this particular brew. Creaminess fro oatmeal is barely there, and further down I get hints of burnt coffee. I guess bottled was the wrong way to present this. BrewerDub (34), USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 25, 2006 Attractive dark brown pour with a creamy tan head. The lacing was decent. The aroma was of coffee, caramel and some and the faintest hint of dried fruit. The flavor and palate couldn’t keep pace with the Samuel Smith’s Oatmeal Stout and for the money I’d be hard pressed to purchase this one again in lieu of the Samuel Smiths. Pleasant, just not remarkable enough to buy again. Boutip (2400), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada

Aroma of chocolate roasted malt is pretty interesting. Taste of chocolate malt with some sweetness and a light dry bitter finish is enjoyable. Body is slightly above average with a great creamy texture. Well done overall and something I wouldn’t mind indulging in again. ux04 (30), Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 20, 2006 Not the beat oatmeal stout but still good. Pours a nice colour and without too much head from the bottle. Nice aroma. This beer isn’t retired but it has been relabled. I reccomend it to fans of any kind of stout. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 19, 2006 Pours almost opaque with a thick creamy head and plenty of visible bubbles sinking to the bottom. Aroma is slightly chocolatey, and the taste is smooth and more like a dry stout than most Oatmeal stouts I have tasted. Drank from a can, I really want to try a bottle now though.
