Aroma is suprisingly smokey and tary, I would say almost hickory-like. Taste is rich with roasted barly, and notes of chocolate. Nice hoppy bitterness that never takes over. I’d say this is among the best beers I’ve had so far. Really like it. (Only wish it came in smaller bottles.) Had it by the way to chocolate mousse and the combination was nothing but devine. Unlike some other oatmeal stouts this does not have a chocolate or coffee taste. Explains why they have a double chocolate and this. Veer (355), Landskrona, Sweden

Roasted background and a really mellow bitterness. eaglefan538 (2363), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 5, 2006 One of the most drinkable stouts I’ve ever had, this one was fairly smooth. Poured a nice dark brown-black with a consistency that was porter-like (thinner than usual). Head was small, but provided adequate lacing throughout. Mouthfeel was light and carbonated with some dryness. Aroma was a nicely roasted coffee and the flavor was pretty similar. Too thin to be a man’s stout, but very drinkable and somewhat session like if a stout could ever be such a thing. JoeMcPhee (5000), Jackson Heights, New York, USA

Sticky lacing. Fruity, cherry and berry. Really nice yeasty profile. Sweet chocolate, light roast and an oaty aroma. Smells like a bowl of oatmeal. As it warms, the fruity aromas really come to the fore. Good mouthfeel. Creamy, sweet and fruity. Sweet chocolate and oat finish. Light roast/toast. Some bitterness but some lingering roasted grain helps dry it out. Pretty good. DragonStout (1380), Pataskala, Ohio, USA
