A beautifully hand crafted beer with an exceptionally smooth palette and a fruity aroma. A dark, ruby-coloured stout, almost black from a distance, with a beautiful creamy head. Fuggles and Goldings hops. 20% Slovenian Goldings added 10 minutes befofe end of boil.

Pint Bottle, marked best before the end of March 2006. Aroma is dark and malty. Pours a very dark brown with a dark tan head. Slightly bitter coffee like taste with a smooth finish, very little aftertaste. A very satisfying stout for newbies, but not for those seeking the best that is out there.

From a bottle into a snifter. Beer pours a nearly opaque, reddish brown-black color with a large, light brown, frothy/creamy, mostly and quickly diminishing head. The aroma is really roasty: Heavy malt notes of heavily roasted grain and coffee, lightly hoppy with an herbal note, and miscellaneous notes of brine and basement/cellar. The flavor is heavily bitter, moderately acidic and lightly sweet with a long, moderately bitter, moderately acidic, slightly salty finish. There’s a strong nasty dusty aftertaste that gives me the willies—I’m not quite sure what to call it exactly. It tastes/retronasally smells like what I would imagine licking a dust off of a box in the attic might taste like. The body is medium, the texture is watery and the carbonation is lively. I’m done. :P

On tap. Very dark, nice frothy head. Quite roasty and very sweet to the taste. Finishes ok, but best description is the smoothness. Tasted better as it warmed closer to room temp. The Double Choc is better

Pure black color with a burgandy tint held up to a flashlight. Moderate light tan head. Aroma is cola with a hint of licorice. Flavor is lightly sweet with a little smoke, a hint of milk chcolate and a light coffee bitterness in the finish. Thin body with a watery texture and flat carbonation.

Bottle. Very dark brown with a rich, beige head. Aroma full of chocolate, fruit and roasted malts in the background. Flavour starts sweet with chocolate, there is hint of berries, but towards the finish the roasted flavours take over, ending rather dry. Some spicy yeastiness. Light to medium body. A very nice stout it is.

Dark black with great creamy cocoa brown head. Aromas unnoticeable, water downed milk flavor with coffee ending. Seems to become more alcoholic near middle of glass.

On tap. Beautiful dark color with tan thin dense head. Nice malty aroma. Just full enough body with oats and dark malt flavor. Finishes with a hint of burnt chocolate. More or less on par with Sam Smith’s Oatmeal Stout.
