| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 20, 2008 Thin light brown head, poured a deep amber color with a smooth sweet chocolate and almost citrusy smell. Tastes of caramel with a slight bitter finish. Light and smooth for a stout. joshiez (48), USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 20, 2008 In a bottle, this pours deep black. Dark like the devil’s soul....sweet smell. Really smells like smokey molasses.....very little head on this beer...and sinks right away. When you taste it though....its sweet and not much oatmeal...which is what I wanted...but still...really delicious. I didn’t eat anything while I drank this, and still....I came away with a full stomach sensation. Chocolate drifts came with the second taste....just nice....not great...but really nice. jcwattsrugger (5582), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 2, 2008 Big darkish brown lasting head. Deep dark red barely translucent body. Roasty vinuous chocolatey aroma with bready yeasty notes and traces of licorice. Very harmonic. Dry-sweet burnt licorice taste with grainy chocolatey notes. Some sherry notes, too. Warm, slightly burning mouthfeel, not sure why. Dry aftertaste with bread and yeast, too, as well as coffee. (0.5l bottle from Systembolaget, Charlottenberg. Brewed at the Ram Brewery, Wandsworth.) | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | May 30, 2008 From bottle. Muted roasted grain, light sour aroma possibly from carbonation. Mild chocolate and some bitter character. Not a very strong aroma. Dark black clear with thin lacing light tan head. Medium body, slightly chewy, with medium carbonation and a bit of carbonic fizz & acidity. Little bit of creamy film on the tongue. Fairly full bodied in flavor, with nice roasted and mildly burnt coffee flavor with some chocolate and light lactose sweetness. Dry nutty bitterness in the finish with a bit of malted milk. Decent stout. 17thfloor (1514), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 23, 2008 [Bottle] Pours thin black with sparkly thick beige head. Cookie, licorice and raisin aroma, the sweet metallic kind. A little bit smokey in flavor. Some light chocolate and sweet oatmeal with plenty of raisins. A little bit chalky in the mouth and on the thinner side. Sparse but crisp carbonation. Not as interesting as expected. daknole (3032), Scottsdale, Arizona, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 4, 2008 Nice beer by Youngs, although I prefer the double chocolate much more. Dark pour with an off white head. You can smell the oatmeal and taste it...and its nice. Pretty well balanced, maybe a tad thin on the tongue...but good anyway. chicagobears (336), Elk Grove Village, Illinois, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 4, 2008 Pours black into pint glass. Nice lacing tan head. Has a oatmeal profile that is more noticeable than stouts that are labed with "oatmeal". This is a little smoother than Samuel Smiths. A good stout that is easily drinking.
