A beautifully hand crafted beer with an exceptionally smooth palette and a fruity aroma. A dark, ruby-coloured stout, almost black from a distance, with a beautiful creamy head. Fuggles and Goldings hops. 20% Slovenian Goldings added 10 minutes befofe end of boil.

Bottle at McRaney’s. This is pretty good. Really dark pour. Nice and smooth. Very creamy. Sweet but not too much. The oatmeal is nice, with mixed with the chocolate malts.

Pours a dark brown nearly black color with an excellent fluffy tan head. Aroma ia very malty and creamy with some pronounced roasted notes and a bit of chocolate. Flavor is very malty as well with some strong smokey flavors which help balance the sweetness without letting it get too hop. Dry finish with some wood fire notes that linger. Medium body and low carbonation. This is a very nice stout that never got too sweet

Smells nice and dark with creamy oatmeal notes. Taste is light chocolate malts, a little watery. Overall lacking in flavor and the creaminess of an oatmeal stout.

BB Nov 11, 2008. Head retention and lacing are attractive but average for an IS. Smoke is the dominant aroma with wood, toffee, and yeast, in second, third, and fourth. These secondary aromas have to be coaxed out from under the light malt. Medium body and even with a very light sweetness. Finish is good and even. An OK stout but not one I’d highly recommend.

rating this a day later from limited notes: bottle. dark brown pour. aroma of chocolate, figs and leather. straightforward on the taste w/ coffee and roasted malt. need to do a proper re-rate.
