I thought it was the same beer. I was happy it was not EVEN BETTER. I can’t wait to get to London again KM (238), Tromsø, Norway
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 27, 2007 Bottle. Nice medium brown/reddish body. Lasting medium sized head, pale off white. Moderate fruity aroma. Strong flavour of alcohol and hints of fruits. An alcoholic bitterness in the finish. One should think this beer was stronger than 6,4 %. A pity though that it tastes so much alcohol. It seems like the alcohol hides something which could be a very good flavour. Enjoyed on the expire date. Maybe I should try it earlier another time. | 5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Sep 25, 2007 This is another essentially perfect beer from Young’s. It has a deep bronze colour with copper/reddish hints, a thick, creamy, beautiful head that lasted long and left perfect lacing. The body and flavour are incredible: amazing, deep complexity with a perfect blend of bitter, sweet, malt, hops, and other subtle elements. The aroma is delicious and all round this is vbursting with flavourful, yet smooth and ultimately very memorable. I should note that Young’s seems to have a special gift at creating an excellent head and perfect lacing that sticks to the glass. sm89walt (453), Canterbury, Kent, England
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 23, 2007 Pours a dark orange from the bottle with a frothy, slightly off-white head that lasts quite well and leaves a creamy lacing. Nutty and orangey dry hop aromas. Nice combination of a medium malty sweet body and a decent hoppy bitterness on the tongue, however the finish was quite short. jvmiller (532), Bel Air, Maryland, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 19, 2007 A nice, solid ale. Sweet to start, with a hint of some the typical english malt flavor. A little tart. Very balanced, well put together beer. Just overall nice to drink. A little spicy, some hints of the belgian style sweetness to it. Easy to drink, palate is quite nice. Overall I thought it was a solid enjoyable beer. greig (171), Hamilton, New Zealand
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 11, 2007 A great ale. I’d call this an IPA rather than an English Strong Ale, but meh, semantics! A deliciously complex pint, full of toffee like malt and marmalade and orangey hops. Has a beautiful drying finish with a tiny amount of lingering malt sweetness. Svesse (2650), Hässelby, Sweden
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 7, 2007 (Bottle, White Horse, Parson’s Green, London, 7 Aug 2007) Orange/amber colour, slightly hazy, with foamy off-white head. Fruity nose with spicy notes of yeast, apricots, mandarin and rubbery hops. Fruity taste with apricots, orange peel, mandarin and a good dose of spicy, citrussy hops in the finish. A bit sweet. Nice, but lacking that extra something. EHSRanders (1120), Randers C, Denmark
