Very nice floral biscuity aroma. Taste starts very sweet caramel, followed by some earthiness and a touch of lemon and then a smooth balanced finish with both hops and malts playing together quite nicely. Medium bodied. A hint of alcohol and subtle hazlenut in the aftertaste. I LOVE how they have used the hops in this Ale. Masterful. A very smooth and very refreshing ale. Stine (1380), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA

Aromas of wheat grass, lemon, citrus and pine lead to a surprising first sip that has a pleasantly estery character. Lots of yeast in this thing, as it’s a bottle-maturing live ale. Tastes quite fresh and lively, while still dry and complex. This might benefit from lighter carbonation, which was a bit harsh. Still, this is a wonderful strong ale that can still be savored in summer months. Nejhleader (931), Lemoyne, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 23, 2006 Hazy amber-orangeish hue, with a frothy beige head, nice toasted malt, hint of citrus flowery hops, and fruitiness in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a sweet toasted bready malt character, with a toffee note, caramelized malt, with a herbal and citrus hops accent, leading towards a grassy, hoppy bitterness finish. Aroma of sweet malt and subtle hops is quite enjoyable. Taste is a well balance mix between caramel malt and crisp English hops. Body is above average and carbonation is good. Very well done for the style and very refreshing overall. locarboy (115), USA

Nice bright copper color on the pour with a nice white head that left slowly and laced down the side of my imperial pint glass. Seemed a bit over carbonated for the style. Nice fresh hop aroma, like sticking your nose in a bag of fresh hops along with some fruit and alcohol. After such a heavenly smell I had a feeling it could not taste as good, but I was mildly surprised. A well balanced English ale that was satisfying. I’m definately buying it again. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 10, 2006 Pours amber with nice white head, good lacing. Aroma is mild fruit and yeast. Flavor is sweet malt, fruity, hops are citrusy. That description doesn’t do this beer justice. Everything works well together.
Mouthfeel has some creaminess and finishes dry. Nice!! Sputerbug (112), Nacogdoches, Texas, USA
