Aromas of fudge and dark, sweet breads. Toffee and slightly earthy. Medium to full bodied with a good malt prifile, followed up quickly with a blast of effervescence. Finishes sweet with a subtle lingering tingle. Undertones of chocolate and fudge in the malt character. Definitely zesty. Offers a welcome citrus acidity that melds realy well with the dominant malts and ample carbonation. Well crafted and definitely quaffable. Solid.

Smells of roasted malts with coffee undertones. Coffee and caramel malts are the most distinct with some slight chocolatey notes. Mouthfeel is kind of heavy, and very fizzy. Slightly bitter finish but smooth. A bitter aftertaste with coffee and nutty flavors. smith4498 (916), Miami, Florida, USA

Earthy and very roasted with a pungent finish. There are better, by far, but it’s honest porter at a quite fair price. I’d say that it’s thin enough to be enjoyed at varying temperatures. Pour it cool and taste it change - no kidding. ghostmonkey (182), budd lake, New Jersey, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 26, 2009 I grew up--well, once I could legally do so :)--drinking this porter. For the money, and on the US east coast Yuengling products are inexpensive, this is a wonderful porter. Chocolate and coffee notes--though not bold or distinct--nicely balanced sweetness. Some can identify ’corn’ in the flavor; I cannot. This beer should not be drunk ice cold, as it dampens what complexity is here.
Some fault porters for being ’thin’ or ’weak’ in terms of mouthfeel, but the style in America, in my opinion, today is confused with that of stout, and the profile of some porters is pushed toward that of a stout. Porters were the beers of working men: inexpensive and satisfying.
