FatguyRacer (86), Crownsville, Maryland, USA Sep 6, 2008 Bottle. While this didn’t suck, there was nothing remarkable about it, except that it didn’t suck. Looks and smells like a typical American brew. Taste was a bit thin and watery. I was expecting it to be better than their regular lager, but it’s not and it cost a little more too boot. I’ll stick with regular Yuengling Lager as a cheap go to. For now. urbnhautebourg (933), Annapolis, Maryland, USA Sep 2, 2008 Go into this without expectations of any kind. Then, you might enjoy it. If you expect the taste of macro lager, you’ll be pleased with the faint hoppiness of the aroma and the flavor. Not bad at all, for what it is. DarkElf (2661), La Jolla, California, USA Aug 28, 2008 29-Mar-07 (12 oz bottle: Obtained in trade with hopdog, thanks Steve!) I first tried Lord Chesterfield Ale about 9 years ago and was thoroughly unimpressed (my summary comment was, "Tastes like a mass-produced European lager), but this isn’t actually as bad a beer as I once thought. The flavor is mildly sweet and grainy with the slightest hint of smokiness in the finish. Nothing great there, but at least it isn’t sweet and bready like many golden ales out there. Grassy hop flavor contributes only mild bitterness, but given how light the malt profile is, a gentle bitterness is all the beer needs to achieve balance. I might be hard pressed to distinguish it from a beer like Heineken, but it seems to be a bit more malty and has a slightly heavier body in the finish, making it less clean. It also doesn’t really have that skunky aroma that those green-bottle Euro imports often do. Body is light-medium and carbonation is moderate, but the beer sorely needs a cleaner and more crisp finish. The aroma is grassy and grainy, maybe a touch of corn, but there is an odd and somewhat unpleasant odor that I can’t place, funky and vaguely cheesy. Medium-yellow in color and clear in appearance, capped by a small, white head. Within a few minutes, only a partial film and ring remain, so retention is only fair, and there is no lacing. I don’t know, in the right setting, this wouldn’t be a bad beer, but it really needs to be cold. I probably wouldn’t enjoy this beer much under most situations, but right now, I find it strangely tolerable. italianjohn (82), Bensalem, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 19, 2008 Can’t go wrong with the Lord its cheap and from yuengling a little watered down and a simple citrus taste its nothing special but its a good beer to keep in your rotation very little head and slightly sweet very smooth always been a keeper wxman (447), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA Aug 13, 2008 Pours a pale amber with just the slightest white head that sticks to the beer surface. Some lacing. Aroma is hop flowers. Very smooth, almost watery; the taste is sweet pale malt and maybe some corn. I get a fruity ale yeast character as well. Some citrus bitterness also noted; I suspect this brew is dry-hopped. Fair to decent effort for a long-time regional.
