shackinetics (124), Florida, USA Jul 17, 2008 Dark Brown/Black pour with thin mocha head. Malty aroma and heavily roasted, almost smoky flavors. Pretty decent mouth feel. Damn fine "happy-medium" beer.
glennmastrange (415), hobe sound, Florida, USA Sep 29, 2008 Bottle. Light aromas of toasted, and earth, with faint notes of paper and cola. Head is large, frothy, off white with good lacing and is mostly lasting. Color is dark brown. Flavor starts lightly acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is light to medium, between dry and watery and has a lively carbonation. A Porter? Drinkable, but bland in all aspects. Onslow (20), , Michigan, USA Sep 28, 2008 Dark brown with a tan head that quickly disaapates. Aroma is a great blend of toasted malt, carmel, slight hops. Flavor is rich - toasted malt, a hint of carmel, very light hops in the finish. Creamy on the tongue, very good palate. Very well balanced and satisfying brew - wish I could get it locally. kkearn (689), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 25, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a bit of an amber hue, capped with a moderate sized beige head. Aroma of caramel and grain. Caramel, toasted malt, and a slight hint of coffee flavor. Finishes with subtle chocolate malt flavor. Nothing overly exciting, but it’s very drinkable, and more flavorful than the average macro. chimp_lechamp (372), freehold, New Jersey, USA Sep 21, 2008 bottle- pours deep brown, nearly black with hints of red. large tan head. nose is caramel, plums, aluminum, some strange wet dog funk in there as well. tastes, sweet with aluminum metal/burnt toast aftertaste, and really carbonated. im probably going to be gaseous as all hell for the next 5 hours. id much rather a diy black and tan, for one it looks way awesomer, and for 2, you dont have to have just yueng in it. fata2683 (178), APO, New York, USA Sep 15, 2008 I really like this beer because it combines my two favorite Yuenglings. We used to mix the porter and lager so it’s nice to see it done for me. Tastes malty and sweet but well balanced in it’s finish. I agree that this is a bit thinner than mixing the lager and porter yourself, but that "thinness" makes it more of a session beer.
