daknole (492), Plantation, Florida, USA May 11, 2008 Not bad for a big American attempt at a B & T. Dark color but too much lager flavor keep this from being a better beer. But it is drinkable which is a step in the right direction. Good malt aroma and lots of bubbles. Flavor is a tad watery but some dark malt flavor it evident.
Hinez57 (102), Clinton, Mississippi, USA Jul 7, 2008 Subdued malty nose with hints of spice and earthiness. Small quickly disappearing head, dark amber color. Mild rosted notes balanced by slight hop notes. Caramel and a hint of dark chocolate. Nice lively mouthfeel, slightly overactive for a porter (which is odd to have this classified as a porter) but not too thin. Overall very drinkable, and just intresting enough to be drinkable. A good choice when looking for something that won’t overpower your dinner, but retains some decent bier character. NDbeerdrinker (26), North Carolina, USA Jul 5, 2008 Pours a dark chocolate color with a small caramel colored head. Taste is of chocolate, caramel, and has a hint of smokiness. Alcohol comes through on some sips. Mouthfeel is medium, and overall this is a decent beer, but nothing special. carruthm (253), USA Jul 2, 2008 dark pour with a smallish head. bits of chocaote and smoke on the nose and taste, but mass-produced beers should avoid trying to make complex porters. scraff (1602), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Jul 1, 2008 Dark brown, thin off white head. Soft chocolate roast notes lay on hints of toasted coffee tones. Dusty chocolate cocoa flavors and hints of coffee balance on hints of musty caramel. Light bodied, medium carbonation, light roasty finish. Not a lot to it, but still a decent drinker none the less... mmm///beer (433), Austin, Texas, USA Jun 30, 2008 12 oz.bottle from lb4lb and pintsize- thanks guys!!! Brew was poured into my shaker (close enough)- poured semi transparent extremely dark brown, low-medium carbonation, white ring around the glass with tones of lacing. Light aroma of light coffee, bakers chocolate, and roasted malts- you really have to look for it though. Hits the mouth with a medium body, the malt comes through cleanly, kind of light on the mouth for a porter, finish fades away rather quickly. Not exactly award winning, but I am, in a way, drinking a part of history.
