MaltDawg (293), Richmond, Virginia, USA Jun 20, 2008 Bottle. 4.7% ABV. Clear amber/copper with moderate fine tan head. Roasty sweet aroma with a bit of spicey hops and some raisin. Medium body with low carbonation. Light roasted malt flavors with some bready toast character and a bit of raisin. Finish is moderately dry with some coffee and spicey hop bitterness. I think this is quite a nice dunkel.
DA (2423), Portland, Oregon City, Oregon, USA Sep 6, 2008 Pours dark brown. Mild toasty nutty flavor up front. Water palate, not a very crisp estery finish, more watery caramel flavor. Decent, but didn’t stand out. Palidor19 (1285), Brandon, Florida, USA Aug 13, 2008 its nice and refreshing malty, although its thin on the palate front. slight caramel and toffee, good for having after work. nick76 (2038), Tampa, Florida, USA Aug 13, 2008 The aroma is malty with caramel, toffee, cereal, and light hops. EithCubes (1805), Indiana, USA Aug 12, 2008 Bottle, 25th rating for this brew. Mine lists 4.7% abv. Lovely nutty nose, sweetly malty with some well-lagered funk and a hint of spice, Schwarzbrot with toast and just a hint of toffee. Coke-colored pour edging toward ruby with a dense, creamy tanned head. Smooth, creamy, slightly tart taste, light nuts with caramelized sugar, subtle toast, and slight funk. Medium-light body, very quaffable. No trace of alcohol, and classy all around. A lovely Dunkel, one to savor! nearbeer (1235), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Jul 31, 2008 330 ml. Translucent, deep mahogany with a small head that lasts and leaves some soapy lace. Molasses, earthy cereal grain, and a hint of maize in the aroma. Front flavor is caramel-cocoa; turns ever-so-slowly to whole grain cereal sweetened with chocolate-molasses. Slight dry finish of flour and grassy cocoa. Light-medium body is nearly in the middle on all accounts: carbonation, mouthfeel (watery vs. sticky), and dryness.
