Aroma was nice with herbal, biscuit, citrus and caramel/toffee elements. Pretty good for the style, especially since this style is normally hard to distinguish for me. Good amount of pine citrus/hop finish with caramel, malty backbone. Palate is slightly chewy. Pigfoot (2226), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 14, 2004 Color here is a lovely uburn, and the head is generous, creamy, honeycombed with tiny bubbles, and cast in a nearly pinkish shade.
Aroma: puzzling at first, minerally, dry, and dull, but soon showing itself to be vigorously toasty, malt having a hammerlock on this, but not to any extreme.
Nice hoppiness, warm and fuzzy, medium bodied, nicely textured.
Flavor arises again and again, never quits, delivers malty, toasty tones that are a joy to sip with each meeting between cup and lip!
There's a spicy, zingy kick in it...I like, I like...

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 20, 2005 Bottle: pours clear dark orange with a small dissipating off white head. Hoppy aroma, lightly citrusy. Flavor is a nice combination of malt and hops. Body is nice: not light, not full. Mild citrus flavor and slight bitter finish. Nice beer. Schroppfy (1813), Ohio, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Feb 6, 2003 An excellent Amber ale in every respect...the body has a tad higher level of carbonation than expected. Hops are there, but left to subtly bite your lower lip after the toasted slightly sourish nutty malt presence has finished rocking your world. Earthy. A nice balance between English type elements and pure Americana. Lovely. Lemon, plus earth, plus fresh watermelon, plus nut meat, in liquid form. Sweetens up soooo nicely when warm. My 2nd fave Amber ever (second only to Ithaca's). Mmmmm...Oh, and BTW VENOM nailed the Vienna resemblance right on...I miss that guy, for one. thornecb (1805), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 10, 2006 Pours deep amber into a shaker. Conglomerate head gradually recedes with slight lacing. Grapefruit and grass notes. Full mouthfeel, but slightly flat with upfront roasted caramel which turns to a lasting spruce finish which turns back to a (not unpleasant) frat floor malt.
