HogTownHarry (3129), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Jul 8, 2008 Bottle (330ml). Via trade with glouglouburp - thanks, Dany!. Looks awesome - deep black-cherry thick, so opaque I can’t see through it - large fizzy-foamy tan head - lasting too. Amazing aroma, not sure what to make of it - tart dark cherries, red vin ordinaire, an my uncle’s old pipe, roast malt, dry thick spice, alcohol - redolent of all that. The taste ... a decent tart cherry underpinning a solid spicy/yeasty strong caramel malt frame - a touch of metal early, which settles down to a strong, slightly vinous Belgian standard ale. Average, sticky body, alcoholic and quite dryly spicy, quick malt fade but a fruity/lightly boozy linger ... pretty decent. Maria (3738), Thisted, Denmark Jun 16, 2008 Courtesy of Yespr. Dark, red-brown with a creamy head. The aroma has sweetness and notes of syrup, roasted malt and hints of berries. The flavour has sweetness, notes of candy sugar, malt, raisins, berries and the finish has a light berry acidity and notes of syrup. It’s very nice – but the sweetness makes it a beer I prefer to share. bhensonb (2686), Woodland, California, USA May 29, 2008 Bottle at the Delirium Pub in Brussels. Dark brown color with orange hilites. Lacing beige/tan head. Dusty dark malt and dark fruit aromas - mild - not rich and over sweet. Medium body with near fizzy carbonation. Flavor is dryish dark fruit and malt. Don’t get honey. Finish is dusty dry with floral aspects. Different. A good sipper. joergen (6133), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 15, 2008 Bottle.
