Commercial Description:
ZEST is a new refreshing, young and vibrant alternative to your typical beer. With a pale Ale base infused with the delightful citrus fruit flavours of lemon and lime, ZEST is the perfect beer to have either on its own or accompanying a meal. With its stylish 330ml green bottles wrapped in bright citrus coloured 4 packs, ZEST is the beer of choice to take to that lazy summer BBQ or celebratory night with friends. It’s best enjoyed chilled and straight from the bottle, however ladies…….why not try your favourite ZEST in a flute glass for that extra bit of chic? ZEST contains the finest quality Australian ingredients available and is 100% preservative free. The range is brewed in small batches using traditional European conditions which ensures the end product is of supreme quality and taste. Ultra light malt, high quality filtered water and essential oils from lemons and limes help create the distinct aroma and flavour of ZEST.
Brewed by AIB (and previously by Mildura) for Kat Breweries http://zestbeer.com.au/

Sweet malt hop aroma with lemon. Clear amber colour with fair head and lacing. Sweet malt lemon zest flavour. Fizzy palate.

Bottle (330ml). Poured fizzy clear yellow with an average sized, rocky, white head which was average lasting. Aroma was of lemon essence with some odd soapy menthol notes, some pub squash and hints of lemon jelly. Flavor was of lemonade with no hops or malt present only more lemon essence with lemon rind and some detergent-like soapy notes in the finish. Light bodied with fizzy carbonation, a very thin watery texture and a short finish. Quite awful and hard to get down.

After trying the Zest Lime first I am a bit dissapointed by the Lemon beer. Nose is Lemon Jello, initial flavour is mainly corn starch nothingness. No bitterness, malt or even lemon really for that matter. Finish has a slight lemon to it, but nothing to race back for more of.
