Aromas of dark fruit, roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, and alcohol. Flavour has a sweet start, with biting bitterness taking over for a long spicy finish. Full-bodied, and syrupy in the mouth. Almost black, with a creamy off-white head. r464 (285), Allentown, Pennsylvania, USA

I was able to find a single fresh bottle in NJ, though, and I was pleasantly surprised. Very deep and complex flavors that go far beyond the usual porter. I would pick it up again. dykhuis7 (9), New York, USA does not count | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 23, 2009 Beautiful dark pour, nice creamy two finger head. Chocolate and coffee dominate the nose, with hints of raisins. Flavor is much the same, although I didn’t pick up the raisins in the flavor as much as I thought I would. Regardless, the balance of chocolate and coffee was right on. Nice complex palate makes for a great beer. And at $1.50 USD locally, probably one I will enjoy rather often. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 16, 2009 500 ml. Initial sniff is of a doppelbock-ish Baltic Porter, but the taste reveals a strong roastiness. So its, raisins, licorice and coffee grounds, maybe. This is also a good looker, black with a big beige head. Fairly rich on the tongue with light carbonation. What Central Europeans do best. daknole (2940), Plantation, Florida, USA
