Bottle. Pours black with a nice tan head. A little lacing. Smells of chocolate and roasted malts. Tastes of same, didn’t pick up any real fruitiness, but it was very nice. It hid the alcohol well. Good beer.

Flaske. Udemærket porter der dog har en anelse tynd mundfylde i forhold til de imponerende 9,5 % SOrt og med en del brændte noter, der dog ikke går over i en sødme som man ellers kunne forestille sig, istedet bliver den hængende. Så udemærket med ikke mere beskriver vidst bedst denne øl.

This beer was probably too cold when we tasted it. Nice tan head, sortofa red color to the beer when held up to the light. Taste was dark chocolate and sweet in the first sip, the second sip brought on the fruity characters that Baltic beers sometimes show. This beer is way too easy to drink for 9.5% beer, it could get you in trouble quickly.

black as night.though strange golden hues emit when held to the light. taste of alcohol and dark fruits such as cherries. ssmmootthh and foamy and strangely light. different feeling beer. i really only got the hops on the burp. i find hints of cocoa, vanilla, an chocolate in tiny amounts and in decending order. the aroma is more like vegetable malt. do not try to find the place that sold this beer for $1.59 for 16.9 oz i have already bought it all up! i am available for trade.... and you do want some. sweet and salty little potent number...

Dark black color, thin tan and bubbly head. Not a very stong aroma. Almost like a sweet champagne. Flavor is sweet malty espresso with a dry palate. Can’t believe this is a 9.5, perhaps the smoothest high octane I can remember

Bottle, BB 11/11/07. Poured clear, deeper brown with a tall, sticky cap of yellowy-brown head. The aroma picked up deeply-charred dark chocolate and dark fruits with a nice herbal and floral hop presence.. dry, dark, and delightful. The flavor held serve.. layers of deeply roasted dark fruits on top of and complimentary to dark chocolate and black malts.. sweet, yet sufficiently roasty.. mild coffee and herbal bitterness.. great balance throughout. Medium-bodied, and it filled out toward the back of the palate.. building alcohol warmth provides a warm and satisfying finish. Just a great beer!

Really dark, chocolate brown body with a small, frothy, coffee colored head. The foamy settles quickly to a small, bubbly layer with a prominent edge. Minimal, sudsy, spotty lace dots the glass. The aroma shows copious amounts of nougat and caramel, along with stewed raisons, figs, and some vanilla. Typical of a Baltic, it’s very fruity smelling. The flavor again builds on a caramel and nougat base, this time with chocolate joining in. Dark fruits, vanilla, and maybe even a hint of maple add depth. I even picked up a bit of oak. An ample hop bite kicks in on the back end, lending balance. Mouthfeel was moderate in stature and smooth. Very drinkable for 9.5%. Solid brew.

500ml bottle from Bevmo. Pours a dark brown with an ample khaki head. The Aroma was strong with red fruits--mostly cherries but also some raspberries--other aromas noted were molasses and caramel. The flavor was a bit harsh with notes of coffee, granny smith apples, and biter chocolate. The mouthfeel was a bit thin and grainy up front but filled out to a nice creamy effect by finish. The Finish was a bit uneven with caramel and biter molasses carrying the close. Overall: I probably should not have rated this beer the day after I rated Olfabrikken Porter, it compares somewhat unfavorably. However I think otherwise its a fine porter. Recommended.
