Smells of chocolate, alcohol, more chocolate, toffee and lots of sweet qualities that are difficult to pin down. Tastes of chocolate with lots of licorice and some dark fruit (figs, some dates, rasiins mostly). As the beer warms, touches of tea creep in. Finishes of molasses. cbkschubert (1989), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA

Pour dark brown with some ruby highlights. A nice light brown head on top with a bit of lace.
Munich malts are apparent in the nose. Some chocolate, raisins, and a whiff of alcohol. Some noble hop character.
Very chocolatey, raisin, smoke, and really bitter, with clean lager like character. A bit oxidized
Medium body with plenty of carbonation, and a dry finish.
Solid, but not a fave of the style.

A delicious black beauty, Zywiec Porter delivers a rich, complex taste that blends hints of chocolate, coffee, raspberries, licorice, and a wickedly bitter aftertaste that pits man v. beer. Beer geeks, rise up, and heed this beer’s call! An endless love affair awaits with this powerful black stallion. RblWthACoz (963), Brooklyn, New York, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Sep 20, 2007 Pours a basically opaque black with a tan head. Nose is distinct with chocolate. I like! Flavor is just as good. Mature and robust with a smooth and not too harsh profile. Chocolate and mature malt tomes. Feel is thick with carbonation and smooth with ingredients. Extremely drinkable. After sampling several porters from the region over the past few weeks, this is by far one of the top ones...if not THE top one. Very worth trying,
