Aug 11, 2007 Bottle... Clear, almost-black lager with a burnt orange tint and a small, creamy, beige head. Excellent retention. The vinous aroma is of port, caramel and dark fruit. Lots of roasted, vinous, moderately bitter notes in the flavor. Also, lightly sweet and mildly tangy; a blend of Riesling and dry red wine. Full-bodied with a 2%-milk mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Burnt, bitter, abrasive finish. The malts, hops, esters, etc. don’t really blend well for me. Not my thing, but thanks goes out to growler for giving me the bottle!

Aug 11, 2007 Very nice. Nose is fairly closed, but the flavor is an assertive sweet roasted malt with enough hops in the follow-though to balance it out nicely. Kinda like a molasses cookie dipped in beer.

Aug 8, 2007 500 ml bottle from beastiefan2k. Pour is black with a nice big khaki head. There was quite a bit of layering initially, though that cleared very quickly. Aroma is roasted coffee and some nutty sweetness. Taste is well represented by the aroma with roasted coffee (caramel) sweetness and a bit of the nuttiness. Additionally, there is a nice sweet hop bitter finish. Palate is soft and still. As this warms, there is a slight hint of alcohol in the after taste. Thanks Eugene!

Aug 5, 2007 Black beer with a beautiful brown head. Flavor is roasted malt, coffee, and nice hop bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel. Finish is coffee, sweetness, and bitterness.

Aug 4, 2007 It’s a black porter with a nice, creamy head. The aroma is sweet with notes of roasted malt and caramel, just like the flavour, where I also find coffee and a light bitterness, that lasts quite a while. The sweetness is a bit too much, but I have to be fair to this one and try it again some day, since I had it right after the barrel aged Smörpundet Porter. 2399

Aug 3, 2007 Bottle. Woody coffee aroma with light astringency. Very dark brown with a moderate head. Creamy espresso flavor with moderate bitterness and mild astringency. Very nice.

Aug 1, 2007 Updated: Dec 7, 2007Bottle from BevMo. Pitch black as it is poured into my shaker. Sudbued roasted malty aroma. Full flavored maltiness with a slightly sweet flavor as well. Finish is very roasty. Smooth mouthfeel, quite creamy. A little alcohol is noticable. Great deal at $2 for 16.9oz.
