Nose is dark fruits, toasted malt, and hints of chocolate. The taste is full of roasted malt, coffee, dark fruits, and light chocolate. Very good. Thanks to BuckDich for sharing this treat. nick76 (2674), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 4/5 | 8/20 | May 5, 2007 The aroma is interesting with toasted malt, chocolate, and rubber. The appearance is dark brown with an average sized tan head. The flavor is like the aroma but very sweet and bitter. The sweet is very artificial and the bitter is very astringent. There is a little bit of black strap molasses but it just adds to the unpleasantness of this beer. The palate is smooth and thick. Another beer that I would not recommend. kimcgolf (832), Dacula, Georgia, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | May 3, 2007 Pours to a coal black with good tan head that lingers through most of the glass and leaves lacing from top to bottom. A very unique arona, in that it was a pleasant mixture of chocolate, coffe, licorice and alcohol. The good nice thick body was slightly carbonated, and the mouthfeel somewaht tingly.
Flavor was mostly the chocolate-coffe to begin with, and as the beer warmed, the 9.5% alcohol became more noticeable, though never overwhelming.
Likewise, the finish, which was at first a little watery and short, became long and pleasant as the beer warmed at mid-glass.
This beer was a pleasant surprise and most enjoyable. scraff (1946), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 2, 2007 Black, thick tan creamy head. Soft coffee and toasted vanilla nose that lie upon a bed of milk chocolate and cedar shavings. Flavor held more soft coffee and chocolate notes that mingle with a vinous nutty earthiness. Medium bodied and smooth, light carbonation, dry, bittersweet finish. Nicely done... JAF737300 (797), Tampa, Florida, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 30, 2007 This beer has nice notes of caramel and molasses. It not only has those notes on the aroma but the palate and finish. It has a decent weight to the mouthfeel and drinks very well. Otje (668), Leiden, Netherlands

| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Apr 26, 2007 medium ruby color with a small tan head, light color by porter standards, malthy roasty flavor. Stale cardboard flavor with some roasted malt undertones. Thin moth feel for teh style. Perhaps a imporoperly stored bottle that may have been heat/cool cycled? moejuck (1165), Ohio, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 14, 2007 Thanks to Goldtwins for the bottle. Alcohol and mollasses aroma. Looks like a stout. Full and creamy palate. Definite chocolate and roasted malt flavors up front with a sort of lager-like quality to it.
