Pours an oily black, with a light brown film for head. Has an aroma of peppery chocolate malt. Flavor has a nice & full kilned malt character, roasty, chocolatey, creamy mouthfeel. Has a peppery alcohol touchand an earthy metallic character. Very satifying.

Bottle from Sean, Thanks. Pours out a dark brown color without much of a head. Smell is sweet, rich, slight alcohol, malts, and caramel. Taste is overly sweet, thus sealing my opinion that I am not a real big fan of baltic porters. I think this was actually too warm (is there such a thing with a dark beer??!?). To its credit, the 9.5% was never detected, nor could I taste it. Its almost like drinking an overly sweet imperial stout. Not bad, dont think I would revisit it, but if I was given a free bottle, I wouldnt turn it down ,thats for certain.

Pours black with a small head. Aroma is roasted malt with a touch of alcohol. Flavor is a bit sweet with roasty flavors present, but not as up front as you would expect. Nicely hopped to balance the sweetness. Alcohol is way in the back which is surprising. Tasty.

Pours just about black. Small off white head with in between light and medium carbonation. Aroma is hoppy, sweet chocolately malts. Taste is rich and dark malts, chocolate, with a mild and roasty finish. HInts of vanilla throughout the taste. Alcohol pushed to the back, and is pretty well hidden considering how high the abv is. well made.

From a 500ml bottle. Pours a flat black with mahogany highlights. 1/4 inch tan head that dissipates to nearly nothing. No lacing either. First thing I get is faint herbal hops in the nose. Lightly metallic. I have to search hard for the faint roasty malt of a porter. Taste is sweet dark malt. Rich, far more rich that the nose suggested. Black fruit, tart currant and plum. Noticeable warming alcohol in this one, faint roastiness way back behind the fruit. This is a thick brew in the mouth. Doesn’t look or smell like it should be but it is. A little hot but a nice drinker. I can’t decide if this will excel or fall apart in the cellar. I’m gong to get a couple more and find out.

Dark, dark brown that borders on black. It doesn’t let light through. Inviting, sweet aroma with some apple in it. The flavor is a lovely sweet flavor that’s not too alcoholy. It has some caramel and bubble gum in it, but it’s not too sweet. Very nicely balanced throughout.

Bottle. Dark, crisp, and strong, this thick, malty porter packs a punch. It’s chocolaty in color and opaque, bitter on the nose with hints of coffee, and filling on the palate.

Beautiful black pour with a creamy biege head in to my matching glass. Unfortunately this beer is plagued by intense oxidation in only a 6 month old bottle. The aroma is mostly masked, offering only light breadiness and marshmellow, with a touch of roast. Flavor starts out offering good molasses and roast flavors, then descends into a finish of aluminum foil and iron nails. I’d still love to try a less oxidized bottle.
