A few breweries opening in Split (!) + one on Indiegogo

So, yeah, after years and years of nothing - ever since Laško killed Jadranska Pivovara - the second largest city in Croatia and the center of Dalmatia will finally have a brewery - not one, but at least three it seems. :)

LAB Split Craft Brewery is the closest one to actually opening:

Run by a couple of very capable homebrewers from Split, and friends of mine (with Mario from Dva Tona and, more recently, Leopold’s as master brewer), they have acquired equipment from the recently defunct Imo Pilsner in Donji Proložac - and brewed a test batch of their Barba Pale Ale - a 5.5ish, 45IBUish APA there that’s now being showcased around Zagreb - very good for a first, especially on "new" equipment, different enough from other Croatian APAs - and, most importantly, very good despite being unfinished really as they have yet to modify their equipment to allow for dry hopping. They are moving everything from there to Split and hope to open in January really.

Pivovara Fjaka
There have been rumors that the people behind To Je To - one of the few craft beer bars in Split are planning to open a brewery - and things are getting more concrete it seems. They are looking for funding @Indiegogo, and it would be great if you have some spare change to help them. :)

The bit about it being Split’s first craft brewery is quite incorrect, but hey, they deserve support anyway! :D

Another new brewery here seeks funding through Indiegogo - spearhaded by two really cool girls from Zadar, this will be a cooperative brewery, with a bunch of other homebrewers in the area. Check it out, if you wish! :D Zadar deserves a micro to call its own. :)
