That’s the price we pay for living in the city that never sleeps, I guess.

That is one person’s opinion, not a fact - in case any sensitive souls reading it are afraid to try BCS, I say go right ahead and buy some, and see if YOU like it.
Two-fifty a bottle is a lot? Really? And yet it’s intense enough I bet some of the price complainers have trouble finishing a single bottle.
Seems like they pack a decent value into BCS, even if Brooklyn maybe can’t afford to give it away as before.
Honestly, I wonder what brewers must think of this lot of whiners. A beer like this for 2.50 and people don’t appreciate what it is, at least respecting it.

Oh and to be fair to the US price-watchers I will note that in Ontario, Canada Peche Mortel is 3.80 a bottle, and Southern Tier, Dogfish and Victory, are around 14-16 a six pack.

Wow. I guess it sucks to be a beer drinker in Canada. What is the price and brand of your cheapest and most popular beers? FWIW, the Canadian dollar and US dollar are almost equal in value, so we are talking apples to apples here.

Not as much as it sucks having to drink good beer in America. NO just kidding! I love Buffalo, Miami, LA and NYC.

It’s almost as if the beer has to be taxed differently because it’s made in another country??? Weird, right??? The Canadian dollar and US dollar being apples to apples? What’s going on with the apples in your town?
Oh, and in my opinion Black Chocolate Stout is beautiful. Not only does it age, I think it needs 6 or so months to mellow out. I believe the brewery has vintages back through the 90s. It’s a great value, period. $2.50 for a vintage dated Imperial Stout that regularly scores high? Even coffee drinkers can see the value in that.

As far as aging goes, BCS is one of the best. In fact, I always try a fresh one, and always come away thinking "I really don’t like it fresh"
I have bottles dating back to 2000/2001. Next year I will be doing a vertical with 10 years worth.
Every year I have a limited amount of verticals for sale. People start asking about them in August. The consensus among those that have purchased a 3-4-5 or 6 year vertical is that even at 6 years old, it is amazing.
Everyone has their own likes & dislikes. Their own tastes. So no matter what anyone says, about any beer at all, you need to form your own opinion...with your own taste buds.

Based on the last 2 times I’ve had it, I must sadly agree with this. The older batches were beautiful, rounded and dry with that thick black malt richness. Lately it’s been almost fusel-ish and sticky.
