As i use IRC for other chat related things already, this is an improvement over the AIM platform. Anyway - more than one chatroom won’t hurt i think. Cheerz!

also, this #brewery forum seems to be an all-out beer related irc chat, so not ratebeer specific as such. Both good and bad i guess, but we could perhaps fish some new ratebeerians if that channel got wider usage amongst beer fanatics. Right now it’s quite low-traffic.

Try using Colloquy as an IRC client, it’s really user friendly.

Colloquy is great for MAC OXS, Im a linux user myself, I use irssi or xchat. Windows users can also use Xchat or irssi (from their respective sites) ...but the most popular for windows would be mIRC from mIRC.com
Yes, I admit, this is starting out that its an all out beer related chat...but I am hoping to get some experienced brewmasters in there. I have a few that join now. Also, I am awaiting a reply from the administrators of this website to my email about having a #ratebeer sanctioned chat on irc.sindustries.org , but for now the channel is #brewery , I wont use #ratebeer.com as a channel name because I dont own this site, atleast a moderator on this website should come and register it! The few of you that are showing up, I appreciate it!

Cheers, I’ll retract any earlier statements if that is the case and since it looks like admins are ok/indifferent about it.
I know IRC is better than AIM, just that when a chat is set up for a site I think it is best to leave it to that. If you start participating in the site then making a suggestion or asking to set up an IRC chat seems fine to me. Otherwise it just looks like you’re trying to scare up some members quickly and don’t plan to contribute to this site.
Other than that, no hard feelings, just do your thing, I’m not in charge here anyway.
