’m going to be cooking a brisket in a crock pot and wanted to put some beer in with it. I figured something dark and roasty. I have an Anchor Porter, Left Hand milk stout and a Barney Flats oatmeal stout. Any suggestions or recommendations?

Fourthed. I don’t think those stouts are "harsh" enough.

You could cook a good brisket over an open pit fueled by dried-up goat shit and it would still melt in your mouth... albeit, much like a piece of shit, but it really is tough to screw up a good brisket. Good luck!!! thumbs up 11/3/2009 3:04:30 PM

I went with the Anchor porter and it turned out excellent. Cooked it with onions, garlic, salt and pepper for 10 hours. Yum!love 11/3/2009 3:59:08 PM

It really is hard to fail with braising innit.

Trois Pistoles is a great braising beer as well. That and maple syrup on Brisket... maybe I’ll try it.

Trois Pistoles is one of my favorite beers to cook with, most Unibrou beers seem great for braising and stews.

One thing I’ve yet to try: a brisket in a smoked beer. [schwing!] 11/3/2009 6:59:31 PM
