The closest brewpub is likely the Grizzly Paw in Canmore:

As for bottleshops, perhaps our Calgary members can give you a clue.

There are a lot of cold tasting beers in BC. 10/22/2009 3:05:42 PM

You realize the places you are listing aren’t in BC, right?

There is an Irish Pub in Banff with a decent selection on draft, but can’t remember the name. In Canmore on the main street (same as Grizzly Paw, but further down) there is a beer specialty store with a moderate selection.

Way too cold. We usually only ski during what most people refer to as the "summer months".

-30C (-22F) isn’t uncommon. Usually a one or two week long stretch will hit in January. That’s the best time to come up for a visit. 10/22/2009 6:00:05 PM

Calgary is a little over an hour away, for a small beer fix. A bottle run would help stock the hotel fridge well.

The weather there is variable. I’ve been in Banff in January and experienced +5C, so freezing isn’t a guarantee, just a likelihood. You can ski there of course, but I’ve always found anything below -15 to be a little cold for skiing, even when seriously bundled up.

Poperinge 359:121 There is two decent stores in Canmore if you don’t want to drive to Calgary, fire me a beer mail when you are coming and I will get you some more details. 10/22/2009 9:14:30 PM

So come to Kernville, CA and ski with us at Alta Sierra! Kern River Brewing is at the bottom of the mountain 12 miles from the skiing and it seldom gets below 20F (-7C) on our hill!cheers! 10/22/2009 9:20:28 PM

well, yes.... but it’s generally the same area. Not sure exactly where we are going to be as I am not in charge of this trip.
