I don’t have a ton of experience with homebrewing but i did bottle 2L of my first batch into a flip-top growler and it seemed to carbonate faster than 12oz bottles. Actually it carbed up a bit too much, after a week and a half it started to push the gasket out of the mouth of the bottle and I had to open it to relieve some pressure. 6/29/2008 12:05:16 AM

I’ve used 2L wine bottles with flip-tops before. They carbed fine. I had the same issue with the gasket being pushed out, although, the beer was still carbed nicely (actually, considering I was using wine bottles, it probably saved me from a 2L bottle bombshocked). Use ’em if you got ’em. It will save on bottling time.

I’ve bottled using a few 2L swingtops and they carbonate the same way, and in the same amount of time, as 12oz bottles. 6/30/2008 3:28:27 PM
