recently found out that the Mark VII distribution company in The Twin Cities of MN is holding 700 cases of Torpedo until they can get more. Their logic, from what I’ve heard, is so they can fill one weeks worth of orders for every store and bar that wants it. IMO i thinks this is ridiculous. Why should a store that didn’t even want to carry the product until it started selling well get a crack at something that people specifically come looking for at my store?
I could care less how much of it we sell or what profits are made I just want to have it for the people to enjoy. So if you want Torpedo call Mark VII distribution 651-646-6063 and give them a WTF!

Are you talking about Sierra Nevada Torpedo? If so, what’s their reasoning behind holding back the kegs that the bars ordered? Give them to the bigger customers first. That’s how it works in every other state. 7/2/2009 11:50:13 AM

Jackasses, all of ’em. Love that they’re basically ageing a hoppy beer out of greed.

It really begs the question, "does anyone over there know anything about beer, and for that matter, sales." Ed called Sierra Nevada too and they said that they don’t like it but there’s nothing they can do. I say BS I’m thirsty and I want the beer.

I don’t know of a single outlet in my area that carries Torpedo in bottles or on tap and this is Sierra Nevada country. I’m one of only two retail outlets in the area that carries so I’m blown away by the fact that a distributor in MN has 700 cases in stock. 7/4/2009 3:39:25 PM

The distributor for the Boston area - Craft - likes to hold SN seasonals ransom until the previous seasonal is depleted in stores. What makes it worse is that they buy too much and then off load it to stores cheap, so the previous seasonal is stocked up high and takes weeks to deplete before the next is delivered. Out in the sticks of Western MA they were seeing SN seasonals 3-4 weeks before the Boston market. I sent an email to SN when I noticed it happening and they have gotten a little better at getting new seasonals out to stores lately - but I have no confidence in this operation that it will continue.
