Gen Con Indy 2013 Beer Tasting and/or Trade

Gen Con Indy 2013 will happen August 15-18, 2013 at the Indianapolis Convention Center. A bunch of people over on BoardGameGeek.com are interested in getting together to share beer and/or have a beer swap. The problem is that the we would need a location to do so. Does any body have any recommendation or contacts for a place near the convention center that would be on board with hosting something like this? Any info/help would be appreciated. Thanks!

How many people are you talking? You might be able to swing something at one of the local brewpubs if you promise to buy a certain amount of draft beer. Otherwise I don’t know enough about the downtown Indianapolis area to be of much help.

Scotty’s Brewhouse would probably be cool with this, but that place is always so packed during MotoGP/Gencon. If they still have private rooms available you could do that. Possibly if enough of you are staying in the same hotel they’ll let you use conference room for a few hours.

Best bet is to do it in a hotel room or possibly book a room at a hotel. I have tried contacting some places a few times in the past, and have always had to end up having tastings in a private club that I was a member of. Even then, its sketchy.

There is a 21 and over seating outside of the city market there is also indoor seating upstairs at or by the Tom tap room who would be cool with it. The market close at 9:00 pm and closed Sunday . I hope this helps. There’s always something cool on tap there too. Don’t forget to share with the bartender.
