I will be spending a week in Greece on the last week of October. I would appreciate any recommendation as to places to visit and beers to try. We will spend at least 1-2 days in Athens, then will try to go islands (not yet chosen). I might rent a car for most of the time but it would be great if you can recommend places that are easy to reach via public transport.
And also I can bring a few bottles from NY, if anyone is interested.

One more useful thing.. Taxis are cheap in Greece. For example you can take a taxi to go from the center of the city to the Local Pub at Chalandri area and this will cost you around 10 euros.. while in another European country this distance would cost 3 times more.

Probably best to BM Gary, he knows all the best place in his homeland

Much obliged, thanks!

Glad taxis are cheap. I am staying a mile outside Ouranopolis next year and there is no way of walking to the town.
Don't suppose I will find much in the way of beer around there, but I plan on visiting Thessolonika one of the days. Any good bottle shops around there or one not to miss bar that allows kids?

I dont think that you will find any interesting beers in Ouranoupolis.. but maybe this will change next year!!
In Thessaloniki on the other hand you will find this pub: https://www.ratebeer.com/p/the-hoppy-pub-thessaloniki/42699/
No smoking inside and children are allowed (as in almost all places in Greece).
About bottle shops I would suggest this: https://www.ratebeer.com/p/beer24-thessaloniki/62109/
They have many Greek beers.
But if you are going to be here around mid of August there is a chance that the above places will be closed.
Whenever you want send me a message, I live in Thessaloniki so I can help you about places here.. or share some beers.

Cheers. It will be early June. I will get in touch nearer the time and maybe meet up for a beer or two.

Two good Athens eateries: Αυλή (super authentic and cheap food in a nice outdoor setting) and Άστερ (less cheap but fabulous menu). If you happen to be near the Acropolis, go sit on the stairs in the sun at Yiasemi. And as far as good places to go for a beer, I liked six d.o.g.s, Μπλε Παπαγάλος, The Underdog (also good for coffee), and Barley Cargo. Some places that I've heard are quite good but didn't manage to check out would be ΒΙΛΑΤΖ, ΜΠΕΛ ΡΕΫ, and Arch Beer House.
