ongratulations to Hughie for getting to this milestone, serioualy well done mate. A great UK rater and a really lovely chap as well. Sorry we missed each other at ’Son of Sid Beer Festival’ recently but I’ve brought a couple of beers back from my travels to pass on to you.

Well done Hughie! I bet that a good percentage of those 3000 rates were from good old fashioned whole pints too! I look forward to catching up with you at the Wellington Arms in the not too distant future.

Thanks for your kind thoughts, everyone.

You know, I thought 3K might be a good moment to change my scooping philosophy from ’Obsessive’ to ’Reluctant’.

But then I thought, Hell No! When you’re my age there’s not much that excites you any more, and to be honest, in my 60th year, just about the only things that still excite me are beer related: going into a new pub and seeing a row of unfamiliar pumpclips; or checking through a festival list and ticking the winners; or opening that new box from Beers of Europe; or meeting people from around the world who understand what it means to love beer in all its fascinating guises.

Cheers!

No seriously - well done Hughie.

It’s always a pleasure sharing a few. Here’s to many more Ks in the years to come, and I will make it to Bedford some time, honest.
