ow this is what an IIPA should taste like. I am sooo sick of IIPA’s that are actually frakking barleywines. Is sooo nice to find an IIPA that is actually a hopalicious hop bomb and not a barleywine masquarading as an IIPA. And damn this is under-rated, thanx to the girly drinkers that think 128 ibus are too much. Fuck that, this is tasty!!!!!!++++ http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/laughing-dog-alphadog-imperial-ip

Loved it. One of their best beers.

I might have to give it a try. Anyone know when this was first brought into NJ or at least when it came to other states on the east coast? I feel like some of their beers have been here for a while and I don’t know how well they sell. I want to make sure it is fresh.

According to my rating it sucked. Too much butterscotch for my taste.

The fact that they also brew Devil Dog and Dogzilla just makes it all the better for me.

The Laughing Dog beers showed up around March or April. I know stock of the IIPA was moving okay out of RB Spirits, but that doesn’t mean Hunterdon or whoever’s the distributor was getting fresh stock. Shame they don’t date their bottles.

Not only is Alpha Dog a lousy brew, the whole outfit in mickey mouse.
The only thing I ever really liked from them was their ORIGINAL Devil Dog which was served at the first anniversary celebration.
I’m in Sandpoint regularly in the summer and don’t even bother to stop by.
Dear Fred:
Brew some Quality product for those of us who can appreciate it, we can pay the higher price, I know it’s within your ability to do it.

I’ve been pretty impressed with their stuff. Dogfather, AlphaDog, Devil Dog, CSB and cream ale (on tap) are all very choice beers. For a couple years, the cream ale was the #1 cream ale on RateBeer! That’s got to account for something.
I know there’s been some consistency issues, but those are all to bad bottling, not bad brewing. When it’s good, it’s great, when it’s bad, get your money back and try again.

I do remember the cream ale being the one I liked best when I had a sampler there this summer but I was in an IPA mood then.
Next time I’m up there I’ll have to do the cream ale.
Whatever you do don’t drink the Alpha Dog with anything that has hot pepper in it, it will f*ck up your palate for the rest of the day.

I’ve liked what I’ve had from them. I think my expectations were just too high for this beer. Maybe a bit of age caused the hop bitterness to drop out some revealing diacetyl.
I’ve got some Devil Dog on deck for next week’s tasting. Can’t wait.
