The Rendezvous for ribs. Jim Neely’s Interstate BBQ for pulled pork and BBQ Spaghetti. Roscoe’s in Germantown for beer, not 100% sure if they are still open.

There is a Flying Saucer in Memphis.

Other than that, Boscos is the only brewpub in town. It is a decent place with standard beer.

I absolutely loved Memphis, and I’d love to go back. That said, from my experience the beer scene is lacking fairly severely. I found tons of stuff that Abita contract brewed for various bars/restaurants that was not clearly labeled Abita. None of it was awful but it’s worth asking what something is if you’ve never heard of it because all of the bartenders I talked to were very nice and forthcoming that it was just a rebadge of one of the Abita standards. Like lithy said, there is a flying saucer in Memphis which from everything I’ve heard (and experienced) is going to be your best bet as a beer location; I also really enjoyed their food. 11/2/2009 8:02:47 AM

Corky’s for BBQ. In my opinion The Rendezvous is just an over hyped tourist BBQ location downtown. 11/2/2009 8:17:46 AM

Interstate is the place for BBQ, although the area is sketchy. Rendezvous is good for Ribs. Corkys = Overrated. Been there many times with out of towners who insist on meeting up there. Now that the BBQ pizza is gone nothing is good there.

Cozy Corner is cool too......nowhere else to get BBQ’d game hens!

If you aren’t a BBQ fan and want southern style, the fried chicken at Gus’s is awesome. I like Jim’s Grill for Mediterranean, but that might be over-rated by me since there is nothing like it here in MS. India Palace is really good Indian, and Casablanca’s on Young is one of my favorite places to get Middle Eastern/ Greek.

My wife loves breakfast, so we always have to go to Brother Juniper’s when we are there in the morning.

Boscos or either of the Flying Saucers for a few drinks. The only bottle shop I know of that gets anything is Buster’s Liquor in midtown, but the selection is only great when you live in MS like me and have no access to over 5% beers.
