e’re moving to a faster bigger server. This means that sometime this week, we’ll put a stop on new and edited ratings, event signups, messages, etc for a half day or so.
I’ll probably keep the forums moving but we’ll lose some posts in the transfer.
When I have a firmer date, I’ll post it but it’s hard to say right now which day that will be.
cheers
Joe

Does this mean we’re losing the ancient library of forum posts and useful information (and embarrassing drivel) dating back to May 25, 2004?

Having been involved in a few moves myself, it’s probably better to post a warning that the site will be down for maintenance at a specific date and time and will remain so for about 3-6 hours (which is about how long this will take). Then take the site off line until after the move. You can move non-active files before hand to help speed up the process.

How do people find these things? I see no way to find older posts.

I don’t understand why I’ve never seen these. I’ve checked 4 browsers on two different systems, none of them have shown page numbers.

I love the peanut gallery.
Come on man! The static files, scripts, images and other assets have already been transferred!
If I had a specific date and time I would do this. Unfortunately I have a job that will be very demanding next week and a family and a lot more stuff going on right now. I’m not sure when I can get to it and I’m uncertain of any potential glitches and how long those would take to resolve.
So in the interest of keeping an informed RateBeer citizenry, I’ve opted for two notifications. One now and one in the future.
