... congratulations but hold the carbonation as the context is still somewhat flat. Truly, it is nice to see iconic Canadian brewer Peter McAuslan given Canada’s highest honour on the eve of the country’s 150th birthday. http://nationalpost.com/g00/news/canada/trebek-messier-and-a-brewing-genius-99-join-the-order-of-canada/ Deserving? Perhaps. Being credited as "Canadian godfather of craft brewing" by the National Post? Far from it. The summary doesn’t account for the movement that was already happening on Canada’s West Coast and its not surprising to see that the National Post got this very wrong as the "godfather"-title is widely-recognized as the combo of two great British Columbia pioneers - John Mitchell and Frank Appleton - on the opening of HORSESHOE BAY BREWERY in 1982. After little commercial success in the ferry-port area of West Vancouver, they founded a small brewpub in Victoria, British Columbia, known as SPINNAKERS BREWPUB in 1983... and the rest is history. Though a wise businessman in building McAUSLAN into a national brand in a relatively short time, Peter McAuslan is somewhat a late-comer to warrant the "godfather"-title when many breweries had already started popping up around Canada prior to and during the time he began production in the St.Michel borough of Montreal in 1989. There were many others on the scene around this time: - VANCOUVER ISLAND BREWING (1984) - GRANVILLE ISLAND BREWING OF VANCOUVER (1984) - BRICK BREWERY OF WATERLOO (1984) - GRANITE BREWERY OF HALIFAX (1985) - KINGSTON BREWING COMPANY (1986) - WELLINGTON BREWERY OF GUELPH (1985) - BIG ROCK BREWERY OF CALGARY (1985) - UPPER CANADA BREWING COMPANY OF TORONTO (1985) - BOWEN ISLAND BREWING (1986) - CREEMORE SPRINGS (1987) - LES BRASSEURS DU NORD / BOREALE (1987) - SLEEMAN (1988) - SWANS/BUCKERFIELD’S BREWERY (1989) - UNIBROUE (1990) Congratulations Canada on having a vast array of beer selection by the time of your 150th birthday. Happy Canada Day everyone! Drink responsibly. // CapFlu

Not surprising, though. Prostitutes aren’t something a company can claim as a "business expense", Alex.
