o now is about the time to start compiling a list of some bottled goodies that will be at the Grand Tasting on Saturday, August 2nd at Pizza Port - Carlsbad. I suppose we could also use this thread for any special requests of bottles that people particularly want to try, to see if anyone else would be willing to bring them to share.
I’ll kick things off with a line-up of some beers of my own that I’m definitely going to bring, which will be augmented by more beers that I haven’t chosen yet but will pull out of the vaults when I go spelunking in the next few weeks.
Pizza Port Cuvee de Tomme ’03 (Silver foil, probably)
Pizza Port Cuvee de Tomme ’04 (Gold foil)
Pizza Port Cuvee de Tomme ’05 (Black label)
Pizza Port Le Woody ’04 (1st bottling)
Pizza Port Le Woody Brune ’05
Pizza Port Mo’ Betta Bretta ’04
Pizza Port Mother of All Beers ’05
Pizza Port Santa’s Little Helper ’05
Pizza Port SPF 45 ’03
Pizza Port SPF 45 ’05

How has the grand tasting worked in the past? Is there some kind of ticket system?

So far (I will dig some more) I can bring
Avery 10
Schlafly Bourbon Barrel Imperial Stout 07
Three Floyds Behemoth Barleywine (yellow wax)
Goose Island Imperial Brown Goose
Regional and local stuff like
BBC Bearded Pats Barleywine
Yazoo Dos Perros, Hefeweizen, and Amarillo Pale Ale
Since I am flying and the wife is pregnant, I can only drag along one styro shipper.

I have had some conversations with cquiroga about my contributions. Instead of beer, I am going to supply 12-15 different cheeses at this point. Some will be cheeses made with beer, such as an Italian cheese made with a Panil beer, Chimay, Rochefort, Bierdeckel, and an Englihs Cheddar coated in toasted Kent Goldings hops. Some will be unusual Rosgue Smoked Blue, Epoisses, Capriole Farms O’Bannon. Some remain to be decided. There is also a very good chance that I will be able to provide some cured meats as well, details to follow.

It’s been done in the past, to varying degrees of success. I had thought we would just do the leisurely free-for-all, with everyone just hanging out and busting out their own beers.
And yeah, obviously with the tasting being only 8-9-ish hours (3 or 4 to 11 or 12), you don’t NEED to bring a case of beer. If everyone brought 3 x 750 mL bottles, we’d have way more than enough beer.
Some people bring multiple bottles of THE SAME BEER so they can ensure that many more people get to try it, but it’s up to you. I’ll probably just bring one bottle of each of those Pizza Port beers, for the time being.

Jon (WeeHeavySD) will be receiving a couple growlers for you all the enjoy and rate from me.
One of them will be Livery Barrel Aged Agent 99 and the other(s) will be determined later this month.
Sorry I can not afford to attend and need to save my monies for the Michigan and Indiana Brewers Fest as well as a possible attendance to the Great Taste of the Midwest.

I think we stretched a 12oz Bells Batch 5000 between ~22 people at Skyview’s winter tasting this past January.
