Just curious if you have set up something with the Linkery in advance? That place is currently the place to be it seems and gets friggen PACKED on weekends. We were there Sat night and you could barely move in the place. Be prepared for a LONG wait. 7/29/2008 3:53:31 PM

i’d rather have the Naga Jolokia dry-hopped version, though i doubt that that exists.

Yup. They have their back room set aside completely for us until 6:15, and then they’ve promised to seat people in that room only on an as-needed basis after that. The room fits about 30-35 people, so I don’t think we’ll have any problem with the first wave of people going in there getting a good meal in when we arrive. Then we can hang out and drift over to the bar area, move on to another place, or whatever.

But yeah, later on in the night (like at 7 or later), I don’t think getting a meal there is going to be very feasible, unless you want to wait a long-ass time.

Yeah, it *probably* is. I didn’t want to say it explicitly, just in case they wanted to do something crazy and throw raisins or cacao nibs in it or whatever. But I talked to Bill today, and he pretty much confirmed that they’re gonna work on getting that Double Coffee Speedway on for us, but this time on draft instead of the cask that was available at Real Ale Fest.

UPDATE!!!

We’ve tweaked the schedule a little bit (since this morning, yeah). . .

We’re leaving O’Brien’s a little earlier, at 1:00 PM, and we’re flip-flopping AleSmith and Ballast Point (because BP wanted to do some VIP stuff for us, and asked for us to work that out for them; AleSmith was fine with it). So here’s the updated Friday schedule:

Friday, August 1st
(10:30 AM – 1:00 PM) O’Brien’s Pub (15-minute drive to next stop)
(1:15 PM – 2:15 PM) Ballast Point Brewing Co. (15 min. to next stop)
(2:30 PM – 4:15 PM) AleSmith Brewing Co. (30 min. to next stop)
(4:45 PM – 5:00 PM) Motel 6 – Hotel Circle (30 min. to next stop)
(5:30 PM – 2:00 AM) North Park Pub Crawl !!!
(Open-ended visits to Toronado – San Diego, Ritual Tavern, The Linkery, and Hamilton’s Tavern)

This shouldn’t cause a problem for anyone, but it will upgrade the quality of the overall event for all of us.

Is it the Linkery or Hamilton’s that’s rumored to have a special pulled-pork sandwich that night? I’m salivating right now just thinking about it...

I just checked out Linkery’s menu. Wow, looks good!

You’ve gotta check out the new Magnolia Pub next time you’re up here, Chris. They’ve completely changed the menu and it’s outstanding.

Also, I’m glad to see the Motel 6 stop between Alesmith and the North Park Pub Crawl Friday. I had planned to drop off my stuff at Motel 6 on my way from the airport Friday morning but will likely just head straight to O’Brien’s from the airport if we’re going to be stopping there before the pub crawl.

Psyched!

The Pulled Pork sandwich was going to be a Danger Abbey thing, but that may or may not happen, at this point. I haven’t talked to the man behind the curtain myself, but I know he recently balked a little bit at doing the "epic gathering" that he alluded to earlier. But the slow-smoked pork shoulder was going to be donated from The Linkery, so you may find pulled pork sandwiches at The Linkery instead, in addition that night.

What’s Danger Abbey, you ask?

The first rule of Danger Abbey is: You DO NOT talk about Danger Abbey!
