k, this is great! Congrats MI!! cheers!thumbs upthumbs upcheers!

Now, that said, how do I get a non beer drinking wife to want to go to something like this and leave the kids home (both under 6) for the weekend? We could leave the kids with family, but I’m pretty sure she won’t want to leave them for what she thinks is just another ’beer’ trip of mine. Which it is, btw excited

Any ideas?

I’m in your boat and have already accepted that I won’t be able to go... unless I feel like cleaning up a shitstorm upon return.

I could have made NY work, no way MI is happening.

Best bet would be to play up the proximity (1 hour drive) to the lake communities of Saugatuck, Holland, or Grand Haven. Natural beauty, great beaches, useless knickknack shops, small town charm. Holland has tulips that people seem to enjoy. 11/9/2009 7:41:53 PM

Looks like the AMWAY: 50 Years of Helping People Live Better Lives exhibit will be in town the same weekend as the RBSG, if that is any help. thumbs up 11/9/2009 7:46:34 PM

This was within a link eyebrows provided in another thread:

It doesn’t look like this will fly with the wife. Atlanta, Orlando, Philadelphia, Las Vegas, NYC would have all been an easier sell. Bummer. Yet another year in a place that is not family friendly. :/

Gerald Ford and AMWAY. Uhhhh. Good suggestions. But those aren’t going to do it for her. Thanks, though. That was funnylaughing

Small town shops, beaches, and so on. That’s more her speed. Too bad its about an hour away unamused

I really plan on going. Just need to come up with a way to sell it good to the wife. Business trip seems a little suspect since its over the weekend. She may be gullible. But not that gullible. I thinkhmmm...

Maybe one of the local GR wives would be up for organizing a "Wives Day Out" or something, with some carpooling out to the shopping, beaches, etc? Seems like something that could be helpful. Just a thought.
