Ok, so it’s not the big city feel, but how about michigan? We might not be as vocal on the message boards as some of the other cities locals, but there is plenty of good beer to be had and you could probably find pretty cheap accomodations and plane tickets. By that time there will be a Jolly Pumpkin Cafe in Ann Arbor and a brew pub at the brewery.

A nice trip across the state would yield Kuhnhenn, Slows BBQ, Ashleys bar in Ann Arbor, Jolly Pumpkin Cafe, Jolly Pumpkin Brewpub and brewery, Dark Horse, Arcadia, Bells, The Livery, New Holland, Founders and Hopcat (in Grand Rapids), just to name a few. There, convinced?

I was thinking the same thing and I can definitely help with a proposal and contacting some brewers. I’m sure I could talk Joe Short into brewing something especially for RBSG10 and w/ other contacts I have I’m sure we could get something special from JP, Kuhnhenn, etc....

One day could be spent out in the Ann Arbor area (JP’s, Arbor, Ashley’s, Grizzley Peak, etc...)

Another day could be out in the Warren area (Kuhnhenn, Dragonmead, Bastone, Royal Oak, Black Lotus, etc...)

or it could focus on the West side of the state

One day Livery, Bells, Arcadia, Dark Horse

The other day New Holland, Founders, HopCat, Grand Rapids Brewing, BOB, etc....

Cheers, Jeff

The Michigan SG would definitely have some time on the road, because given the choice among D-town/Warren, Ann Arbor, Kalamazizzle and Grand Rapids... there is no choice: you must do them all. Fact. And then beg the Livery and Shorts to send a keg to the GT.

So in this scenario , seems like we’d avoid the 100+ mi. round trips by moving our lodging each night to the next city, which I am totes fine with. If everyone was down for this and FOUR bus trips this could really work.

hmmm...confusednyat nyat!

Looks like the MI crew will be submitting a proposal for the Summer Gathering 2010. We’ll be meeting in the next week or so and try and hammer out some details. We have alot of options of what we can do, just have to figure what would work best.

We’d probably shoot for the weekend before the MI Summer Beer Fest (which is July 23rd - 24th) since the weekend after is likely BCTC and weekend after that is GTMW. Any other large fests in July?

I’m also pretty close w/ the Short’s crew so I’m sure I can get something unique from them and I know someone that has a similar relationship w/ the Livery, so we shouldn’t have too much of a problem scoring a few special kegs applause

Cheers, Jeff

I’m thinking a whole week. Ann Arbor, Warren, West Side, and a day for Shorts.

Anyone from MI that wants to help me and masonjer w/ the MI RBSG10 proposal message either of us. The more help and connections we get, the better the proposal will be....and it’s already shaping up very nicely!
