Sorry we couldn’t meet up either, but damn, we could have used another liver. The only disappoint at Bell’s for my was the Golden Funk, sucked.

So, according to Joe, the way this thing gets decided is by a forum vote. If this is wrong, feel free to correct me. Joet is all for a michigan RBSG 2010 and it sounds like there are lots of other folks on board as well. Unfortunately, I can’t unveil the preliminary discussions with the brewers but it is looking pretty good so far. Once we have the go ahead, we will really be able to start pulling details together. So, I guess I will let you guys take the discussion from here. Maybe a decision by democratic vote would be a good idea?

Yeah... that’s how it always works. I’m still pulling for NYC. Don’t assume that hotels only go for 200 a night. There are places just across the bridges into Queens that go for under 90 bucks... NY is more affordable than people realize.

I’d like to see the Philly crew put together a proposal.

For the past few years (last year being the exception, as SF was the only group that put out a bid), any group interested in hosting puts together a rough description of its bid -- http://www.ratebeer.com/feature/nov-30-2006-rbsg-2007-applicat

People then e-mail their votes to Josh, and he tallies them up.
If Joe is stating that it’ll be different this year, I guess he should let folks know, but otherwise I expect this year will be like the previous ones.

I’m excited to see who puts together proposals, but I’m rooting for Michigan all the way. Founders, Bells, Dark Horse, Jolly Pumpkin, New Holland, Kuhnhenn, Shorts, HopCat...that’s just too much beer goodness to pass up.

Ok, those links are a big help. quick question. The michigan brewers guild summer fest is held every year at the end of July. Is that something that ratebeerians would like to have as part of the michigan proposal? Typically, every brewery in michigan is there (with the exception of bells) and there are roughly 300 michigan beers on tap including many specialty or one off beers. This would be a friday night activity.

I can’t speak for anyone about that, but historically, hosts have found plenty of beer-related activity without coinciding with an existing beer fest. I do know that in 2004, we picked the weekend before the Oregon Brewer’s Fest so that anyone who wanted to do both could spend a week out there (and speaking as someone who did, that provided plenty of opportunities to visit additional breweries during that week in between). Perhaps timing the event the weekend before or after the brewers guild event would be the way to go.
