  ’m curious as to how many people out there have smoked beer listed as their favorite style. I’m thinking of changing my favorite style to rauchbier or ice cider and my curiosity was peaked.
For me, what makes rauchbier an exciting, eclectic category (excluding the wonderful smoked malt component that people either love or hate) is that it can be spread across so many different styles of beer. Anyway, I wonder if there are enough of us to start up a User Group list on the People page... if I change my favorite style from Scotch ale.

I just recently changed my favorite style to smoked...I absolutely love the stuff.
I agree that one of the nicest things the "style" has going for it is that it permeates a number of other styles and allows for a broad range of beers that contain the smoky aspects of the style while also presenting something new to the table.
Shit, I may have to go buy some smoked beer for tonight.

I LOVE Smoked beer!!! But it’s close with sours, and I like the fact that I’m on the sour head list. So for purposes of stats, I’m sticking with Sour Ale as my favorite.

Yeah man! My favorite style, though you would not know it from my ratings. The Unfiltered Schlenkerla Urbock I had on tap in DC two night ago helped to rekindle my love. The world needs more smoked beers!

I love smoked beers as well. Back when I was assistant brewer at Santa Clarita Brewing Co. we brewed a fantastic smoked porter that I miss very much. I have a growler of Blind Bat Hellsmoke Porter in the fridge for this afternoon, yummy can’t wait.

BrewDog SmokeHead is probably my new favorite smoke beer.
What I love is that there is NO smoked malt added, it’s just Imperial Stout aged in SUPER peaty Isla whisky barrels! … It’s SO damn tasty!

The whole Schlenkerla lineup, ASP, so many others...dunno if I can claim it above all others, but I love the whole gamut of smoke.
Dude in my old homebrew club once made a big old beast from 100% rauch malt. Mmmmm...bacon. With a capital bacon. Delectable. Dunno how he pulled that off in balance in terms of hops and yeast, but it went on to win some nice medals for him.
