The Freakin Frog has an insane selection. (and they have a secret selection of scotch from when they had a scotch bar upstairs.

Neither or those are cheap, nor do they have super cheap food which is what the OP asked for.

Guess I should have read that a little closer. It’s true - you won’t find cheap beer and food there.

Great deal and decent quality, across the board. Even the Dunkel I had was pretty damned competent - nice roasty, chocolaty notes, while still crisp and refreshing.

Only thing is, now "off the menu" really isn’t anymore. It’s not only on the marquis outside, but it’s the first thing the waiter offers up after you sit down.

Another great steak deal is where we stayed, at South Point. Loved that place...recommend staying there in a heartbeat. After midnight (every weeknight, IIRC), they have a $7 steak dinner...all inclusive as well, but no beer.

You can drink on the cheap most anywhere that has a casino. With a little coaching, my brother mastered the art of going into places such as Mandalay Bay and Wynn with $5, putting $1 into a penny slot, playing one credit at a time, while using the other $4 to get 4 free drinks with $1 tip per drink. The cocktail waitresses don’t care how much you gamble, just how much you tip.

My favorite place is downtown. Very long $1 happy hour at Triple 7 with very good beer. Or go to 4 Queens to the Cigar Bar and get a growler of IPA and walk around drinking from it - no open container laws in Vegas.

Freakin Frog is a great place, but my last bar tab there, by myself for an afternoon, before tip, was $100.

Plenty of good buffets in town. Hit the $10 or less lunch buffet late in the afternoon before they switch over to dinner prices and you’ll be set for the rest of the night.

Great cheap beer/food hunting tips, everybody!

KP, I think I might try the penny slots cheap drinks idea. Haha.

And, in a few hours, I’m off...

cheers!

Well, it’s kind of blurry and I didn’t intend to report it. My wife and I drove to Vegas from L.A. on Thursday night to check-in and meet with some family and friends at a vacation resort, which was conveniently all payed for. The annual timeshare points, whatever you call it, had to be burned before it expired. So, the wealth was shared.

Friday:

The wife and I slept in until lunch. We didn’t want to waste money at a restaurant so I decided to walk to the resort’s grocery store. DiGiorno’s pizza for $12 each? I drove my ass to Whole Foods instead, got some grub and picked up some DH 90 and a local brew, Buckbean Black Noddy Lager. I remember not liking the Buckbean. It tasted like it might have been infected. If that sourness was intentional, I’m not a fan. Anyway, nothing much happened beer-wise because I was in a group and everyone had their own multiple and drunken plans, but we all got drunk, and that’s fun! Oh, we had dinner at battistaslasvegas.com - don’t recommend it. And a guy in the group pissed off the old accordion player. He’s a sensitive guy, apparently.

Saturday:

Yup, don’t remember much, eventually went to the Rio seafood buffet. Overrated. Then everyone dressed up and we all went to the old strip, which was very fun because of all the costumes, or lack therefore. You name a character, real life or not, and it was probably there. Billy Mays, Where’s Waldo, ... The POPE. Lots of cross-dressing, which might not have been Halloween costumes. Anyway, I’m not sure what happened next, but the wife and I got bored so we went to Main Street Station, but with that three foot tall Eiffel Tower drink from Paris, which I forgot how we bought that since we were on the old strip? So, there we were, now at the brewery, she’s in her costume, I’m in my full Incredible Hulk costume (with green makeup), I journey to the bathroom to change back into Bruce Banner since I had an undershirt and real shorts over the costume... Let’s see, the brewery’s Pumpkin Ale (blah), house IPA (yum), and their special quad (very yum) were consumed. Finally, the Pope finds us, along with a flapper, and Hansel and Gretel. The Pope blesses other tables and then the next morning I’m having breakfast at Freak’n Frog.
