’ve managed to pick up 7 of the Spoon’s festival beers locally so far, proir to the official start tomorrow. A mate tipped me off that the Port Brewing/Shep’s "Grumpey’s Pale Ale" was on offer at Rayners’s Lane tonight, so I sprinted over on my bike and was well rewarded. I can confidently say that this is easily the best overseas guest brewer effort since Stone came over early last year. Earlier in tha day I scooped the Czech Purkmistr/Marstons Schwartzbier/stout. Very decent too.

You lucky, lucky bastard
I tried all the ’Sporks around Liverpool St/Old St last night with no luck, a few had coming soon signs on the clips but no beer on. I’m gonna go AWOL from work around noonish and head to the Crosse Keys, they should have most of them there.

Tried to persuade my local spoons to put on some festival beers last night, but it didn’t work. Will be hitting Folkestone and Ashford tonight in the hope of getting the Lost Abbey/Sheps beer.

I’ll be checking the Canterbury pair this afternoon for anything interesting. Good thing about being a student is that I have enough spare time to pop-in most days & who’s more student-(wallet)-friendly than JDW?

Nothing to report from the wilds of North Oxfordshire as yet. I need 35 of them, so surely some of them will become available.
Not sure about all these Festival specials

Ok lunch today
a remarkable beer. The caladonian Double dark was REALLY nice
also had the Titanic pint in the wall
and St Austel George Tipple.
Cains Raisin was also on.
but no others, as they are promoting local breweries tonight
That better than last year at least its at the start rather in the middle of the festival
Can i also recomend the Leed gathering storm which i spotted in the line up.
and though its not up to much, beer wise All hail the Mighty Fairport

My local: Namyslow Plum; GK Boss Hogg; Ringwood Filly Drift; Toshi’s Amber. None really stood out to me but I do know that 1/3 of the Plum was more than enough.

i’m prob not gonna check this fest out unless there is a bit of a consensus that a beer is really good and is worth it.

I too had the Port/Shep Neame Grumpys Pale Ale last night, excellent beer, hoppy, crisp, refreshing brew. It was so damn good I had 2 pints of it. Certainly in the same league as the Stone effort last year.
