Incidentally, looking up the Purkmistr, I noticed that the guest brewers are now down as "contract brewed" on this website, and as such are listed in a separate section at the bottom of the brewry list - ie if you go into the beer list for Marstons, the Purkmistr is not in alphabetical order but is instead listed separately at the bottom. When did this change? Took me quite a while to track it down!

It has changed over the last few days, it is to try and get more sense out of the Contract Brew scene, particularly aimed at Brewers who brew the beers themselves on other peoples Plant. The beer will show up on both the Contractee’s and Contractors page.

I know where you’re coming from Ang. I’ve just flagged some scoops at Watford Spoon’s and am currently getting stuck into more of the Grumpy’s. At £1.19 a pint with my CAMRA voucher it is the only way forward!

I have a load of the CAMRA vouchers but the bar staff yesterday told me that they are not valid at W’Spoon beer festivals. 10/29/2009 9:14:41 AM

I reckon they are talking cobblers, both of ours are taking the vouchers during the festival.

I’ve had no problems so far in 5 different pubs. Watford, Harrow and Central London. Mind you, the 3 festival thirds deal could cause problems on their tills.

We’re also lucky in Reading then - at least two of the Spoons are taking them. In my experience, don’t ask if they accept them, just confidently present them as if you know that they do, that’ll fox ’em!!

Sounds reasonable - a few questions though if I may be so bold:
1) In your count of beers for that brewer (ie the little league table that comes up to the left when you go into the brewers "home" page) does the beer now count on the brewer’s page, the brewery’s page, or both?

2) When you’re entering a new one, Which way round are the two boxes on the new beers page? I think it should be brewery first, and then brewer (ie for Marstons Punkthingy, I assume that Marstons goes in the first box and the hard-to-remember Czech name in the second box?)

3) In the case of Toshi, who I understand has not quite got his own brewery yet, does this mean we still have to create a new brewer page for him? Or does he just get one entry under Banks at the moment? If it’s the latter, do we have to searate it out into a contract-brewed one once he does get his own brewery?

Cheers

It’s not been easy, particularly because there are so many variants involved in contract Brewing, but it is right to try and sort it out.

1) Your beer should count to the Client Brewers page. This also means that when an American Brewer brews in the UK, your count will be an American Beer.

2) You put the Client Brewer 1st then the Contract Brewery, so Marstons goes in the second box. I have already set up the Purkmistr beer.

3)In the case of Toshi, I don’t think he has even set himself up as a company yet (I could be wrong in this), so I don’t believe he currently sells beers commercially anywhere, this makes him an enthusiastic Homebrewer. In this case his beers would only be added only to the Brewery where he is brewing. If he has set himself up as a commercial concern and is selling beer under that name, then as the client that company would be in the 1st box.shocked

As I say, it’s not easy, but it does show a little more logic than before.
