Keg Jever Pils used to be awesome by german standards 20 years back. More recent bottled samples have been rather tame IMO. 11/10/2009 12:40:51 PM

Indeed Jever was the first to come to mind when I read the thread title but I haven’t had one in 8 years, so...

A little brewpub in Northern Germany makes the best pils - and German beer - I’ve ever had.

Klüvers Brauhaus (Neustadt) Pils is simplyy stunning, like Jever probably used to be years back.

The hoppiest Pils... this beer comes directly to my mind as very hoppy:

Pyraser Hopenflücker Pils

sucking back a bottle of zur sonne pils right now, it brings me back to their fresh kellerbier and helles, both nailing that zesty, dry and prickly hallertau hop character. both as hoppy/bitter as a true pils. one of the gems of franconia. 11/11/2009 8:52:31 PM

Jever... Those were the days! It is today only a shadow of its former own, a quite simple mass-market Pilsner.evil grin
The best and hoppiest Pilsners come - no doubt - from Franconia. The Georgenbräu Pils is gorgeous, its neighbour from Löwenbräu Buttenheim also excellent. In the town of Regensburg You can find the extremely aromatic Spital-Pils, similar to the also very well crafted noble Postbrauerei Nesselwang Edel-Pils. Prost!cheers!
