I don’t understand why I keep seeing places bringing in more of this Italian stuff. I don’t know what you guys pay for it in California, but here there aren’t really any of them going for less than 18-20 bucks for a 500-750 ml bottle. They’ve all been sitting there for a year now, and there’s no way they’re going to go anywhere at those prices.

not sure what italian stuff you are talking about,i was actually talking about a few local california breweries.although i didnt state that so my bad.

I believe it will.

Once tickers stop buying $30 bottles of beer, brewers will stop this stupidity, and things will get back to normal.

It’s kinda funny, because I originally started using Ratebeer to know which beers were the best and to only buy those. Now I’m inclinded to try new things just to get ratings, even when I know they’re not rated very highly. Recently I’m starting to revert back because I think too many breweries and importers are charging too much for lackluster products.

I would say no. I believe (hope) there’s enough of us out there who love beer to keep the craft beer industry going. There’s going to be some casualties no doubt, but the industry as a whole will be fine. That being said, I’ve never bought a $30.00 bottle of beer and probably never will. I have no problem paying $10-$15 for a bottle if it’s something I really want, but not much more. 11/5/2009 2:36:06 PM

no because craft beer drinkers are usually elitists and their average level of education and income are higher than that of the common MGD drinker... as in, we can afford it. 11/5/2009 2:39:46 PM

Same here. I’ve started caring more about just trying new stuff (new to me, not new in general) rather than chasing all of the latest, $20/bottle releases. I’ve passed up quite a few highly regarded new releases in the $20 range and don’t regret it at all. I’d rather spend $20 on 10 bottles of "normal" stuff that every once in a while turn out to be very good than $20 on a single bottle that I’ll likely find to be overhyped.

I honestly doubt that tickers (meaning essentially RB & BA people) constitute all that much of those purchasing the $20+ regular releases. Sure, maybe for a one-off brewery only release you’ll get a higher concentration of them, but we really are a vocal minority amongst the craft beer buying crowd.

BrianDorry55 117:2 Jobs are up...
Stock market is up...
There is an end in sight...

Im young and dont see any end in sight for my love of craft beer...and what I can tell you is that all of my friends are catching on to this shit...18,20,21 year olds...they all love it...and I know if I personally have interested a dozen young people into craft beer...and alot of the people on this site are probably doing the same...

Its the macro breweries that need to be worried.
