There are two different types of ’bad beer towns’. First you have places like Mississippi or the Middle East. They don’t stand a chance. Even if Jackson or Kabul wanted to be a beer Mecca, they couldn’t. The laws don’t allow it. Then you have places like Las Vegas, which despite every opportunity to have a decent craft beer scene, fail in every capacity. So my vote would go to either Las Vegas or Los Angeles. At least LA has the proximity to San Diego going for it.

You’ve basically condensed my thoughts into something coherent. Thank you.

Behind the Wall, The Wheatsheaf??? You’ve just not been trying hard enough. You can get Kwak in the Behind the Wall for god’s sake, that’s more than you can in Trashford.
My vote? Well, it’s no contest, my home town, where I live. Ashford, Kent, England, UK. Bad pubs, bad beers, badly served and no or little choice.

I am actually in Riyadh!
The "Muslim weekend" just started, and all I got is lemon juice with mint
Other quite bad places, considering size and expectations: Venice (worst in Italy; not a single beer inside the town!); Paris (veeery poor scene); many towns in Germany, Frankfurt for example (as far as I remember)...

LA isn’t THATbad. The Vendome next to universal studios is where i used to buy they had great selection. I live in NYC now and its much better for beer. Vegas stinks for no reason i agree

Star beer of the tasting at Low Countries 2 clearly. That was a fucking great weekend, parking......parking......parking......
Mind you that Tesco no longer has Orval, so beer fail.

Does Ashgabat still have all the liquor bottles with Turkmenbashi’s face on them? If so, that’s something. Beer probably is too inefficient to help anyone cope with life in that place anyhow.
