So, I'm seeing alcohol free hopwater out there - what's the story?

Not in your neck of the woods obviously but this is a recent brewery in London making only zero/very low alcohol beers.

They're clearly aiming at the "craft" side of things, rather than vaguely beer-like swill that has generally been the norm for low alcohol stuff. They're definitely making some of the best alcohol free beers I've tried but I do find mysef asking what's the point. I'm not aware of any other UK brewers ploughing this particular furrow and I'll be interested to see whether they can find a big enough market to thrive.

Big Drop was the other London one doing low/no alcohol craft beers, although they've moved now: https://www.ratebeer.com/brewers/big-drop-brewing-co/29745/

But the OP might be referring to the hopped sodas that're out there, especially in Germany where there's Hopster and a couple more.

That one had passed me by completely.

Maybe this is what he is talking about?

The ones I have tried have been good.

Yeah, why drink water when you can have hop water? There's also great satisfaction to be had in drinking three liters on a hot Summer day and still being able to stand.

These products Chris is talking about sound pretty cool. The best things about drinking small or extremely small beers is hydration and sobriety. Some people drink soft drinks for this. I'd rather have something hoppy or at least something that tastes like beer.

There was a hop water I tried - didn't like that at all.

I had a hop soda once, too. It wasn't great on its own but made a good mixer

I've never seen anything under 0.5.

This one is actually just hopped sparkling water. Got it in an EU Santa Trade. It is unrateable now as according to the rules, but still listed.
