| | | Alehouse Nine Above Zero | 4.3 | madmitch76 | | | 28th September 2007. Dark brown ale with some moderate carbonation. Very sweet complex start, fruit and caramel contrasts with a bitterish finish. Malty, complex - remarkably succulent and moorish. | | | | Captain Lawrence Nor’ Easter Winter Warmer | 4.3 | swoopjones | | | bottle shared by Rudolf. Darker pour, aromas of dried fruits, light bourbon. Richer darker malts. Light booze is well hidden. extremely well balnced. dried fruitiness, malty richness. Great beer. Thanks to rudy for this gem | | | | Central Waters Hop Harvest | 4.4 | phishpond417 | | | Had this one on tap yesterday, finally. Super tastey beer. Very unique. Bright hazey golden colour with a decent sized fluffhead. Aroma is instant hops. One of the most aromatic beers I’ve had in a long time. Super aromatic, fresh and fruity, lots of fruit in fact. Very tropical. TAste is really not that hoppy. As a matter of fact, there is quite a bit of noticeable candi sugar throughou this beer. Hops are present, but concealed well in the sweetness. IF you can picture a sticky fresh hop lightly covered in sugar. Very astringent, mouthfeel. Creamy. Really fantastic beer. | | | | Livery Verchuosity | 4.1 | beerbill | | | Growler courtesy of jgd0608. Pours a deep brown with hues of plum and mahogany. There appears to have been some loss of carbonation during transport as the head was thin despite a direct pour down the center of the glass and vaporized within sixty seconds. Very pleasant aroma of cherries, dates, raisins, and malt. The flavor is equally enjoyable and quite similar to the aroma with cherries, dates, raisins, and malt with perhaps a touch of oak. Vinous, somewhat acidic finish more reminiscent of a glass of wine than beer, especially with the diminished carbonation. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable beer. | | | | McNeills New Invention | 4.1 | jcwattsrugger | | | on tap-pours a retaining light tan head that laces and hazy orange color. Aroma is citrus/pine (cascade, maybe Simcoe. Nope, I’m told columbus), some medium malt. Taste is resin/herbal/citrus-orange/pineapple hops, secondary sweet/syrupy medium malt-bisciuty. Medium/full body. | | | | Blue Frog 10th Anniversary Ale | 4.2 | badlizard | | | Black with almost no head. Nice rich bourbon vanilla and chocolate aroma with notes of leather. Sweet tangy citrus chocolate coffee taste with bourbon and vanilla flavors dominant through out and lots of toasted coconut on the back end. Worth the wait. | | | | Kuhnhenn Bourbon Barrel Barley Wine | 4.1 | yobdoog | | | Aroma is great. Sweet, dark rich fruit, wood and mellow bourbon and vanilla. Love the vanilla that comes out from the aging. Flavor is sweet, molasses, vanilla, bourbon and sherry with some faint fruit. Nice. | | | | Mikkeller 黑 / Black | 4.6 | jesperhammer | | | 04-DEC-2009, bottle, Ulklřbben @Michael.
It pours black (funny!) with dark brown head. I thought that the alcohol would kill the head immidiatly, but it stays.
Nose is alcoholic. The most alcoholic beer aroma I have ever tried, even in stronger beers. It is like sticking you nose in a good vodka. Wildly alcoholic, and I like it:)
Apart from that, mint, and roasted sttuff.
Very full, extremely long aftertaste.
Faurschou gives up, I get the rest of his glass. Everyone else agrees, and gives up as well.
I am now left with the remains of the two bottles. I don’t give up. Although it does mark me badly the next day, I do not give, but enjoy every sip, and they are sips. Very small moutfulls, all of them wonderfull.
Thank you, Mikkeller, and thank you Michael for buying. World class beer. | | | | The Bruery Two Turtle Doves with Vanilla Bean | 4.1 | kegbear | | | Cask at The Bruery. Dark brown with a long lasting off-white head. Nutty carmel flavor with a strong vanilla finish. A nice take on the regular Two Turtle Doves. | | | | Dieu du Ciel Aphrodisiaque | 4.1 | jeff789 | | | Pours a jet black with a minimal head and leaves very sticky lacing.... Aroma of coffee, chocolate, and vanilla extract with alcohol... More vanilla aroma than chocolate... Flavors are quite rich, roasty with vanilla again dominating the chocolate and coffee flavors, with notes of smoke... Very much a dessert beer, very complex... Not too thick while still being quite sticky though not that sweet... medium bodied, medium full mouthfeel, not as roasty as expected. somewhat dry finish, and a touch of lingering bitterness... Very outstanding stout, just a bit too much vanilla for me... | | | | St. Bernardus Christmas Ale | 4.1 | jesperhammer | | | 04-DEC-2009, bottle, Ulklřbben @Michael.
Brown/hazy/red, nice light brown head.
Belgian like, very very spicey in an X-mas way.
High carbonation, very lively, sweetness integrated, and perfect. This is how X-mas beers should be. | | | | The Bruery Papier | 4.3 | beerinmarch | | | Absolutely brilliant. Big sweet bourbon just melts on the palate with the chocolate and caramel. Yeast character is very mild. Heavy bodied and creamy. Oak provides sweet vanilla undertones feeding the overall warmth. | | | | Mikkeller Beer Geek Breakfast | 4.2 | brewblackhole | | | Like all the Danish highly rated brews, aroma is very enjoyable but much more subtle when compared to American versions, dark chocolate, roasted malts, fresh coffee bean, flavor is mix of bakers chocolate, coffee ,finishes with a bitterness that seems more malt a nd coffee bean derived then hops,as usual, the texture is as smooth as silk. Always an enjoyable experience, but it has to be the first beer of the day to appreciate all the nuances | | | | Piece Wack Job | 4.4 | NobleSquirrel | | | Draft at Piece. Pours looking a lot like Camel Toe, glowing orange with a fluffy, frothy off white head. Nose is fantastic, showcasing amarillo and probably some ahtanum. Apricot, peach, resin. On taste, it is more subdued than CT, but they dry-hopped the heck out of it giving it a smooth/soft bitterness that is thrust at you with a ton of tropical flavors from the late edition hops. Pretty spectacular IIPA. | | | | The Bruery Black Tuesday Imperial Stout | 4.5 | brewblackhole | | | Rich malt scotch like alcohol blast in the aroma, some maple and dark fruit there, by the aroma ,you would think your going to get a sharp alcohol burn as it goes down, but hello, smooth, full, dark malt, vanilla and wood bourbon flavors ,and that little bit of maple sweetness . Other then a thicker body and a hair more complexity, there is little that separates this from a Utopia, except maybe 130 bucks | |

and a nice herbal hoppy presence in the aroma. Soft hay and grains greet the tongue, followed by a touch of honeybread and earthy hops right along side it; finish is a bit on the hoppy side. Clean, crisp, but still full of flavor; both malt and hops are strong,
