11.11.09. Bottle@Cardinal. Pours clear red golden with a creamy light brown head. Good lacing. Molasses, clove, bitter orange zest, flowers on the nose. Sweet and moderate to heavy bitterness. Long finish. Belgian wit meets christmas ale. Exiting and definitely worthwile.

Pours a sizeable off-white, dense head. As the beer settles in the glass I get a nice, deep-brown, clear hue. Looks good. Palate is very smooth and comfortable. Aroma of raisins, dark malts and brown sugar. Initially sweet, with a nice hoppy bitterness piercing through towards the end. Very drinkable and a nice Xmas brew.

500 ml bottle at Cardinal, Stavanger. Pours deep brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is sweet fruits, sour notes, yeasty and barn. Taste is sweet malty, but turns quick to a very bitter hoppy bite at the end.

50 cl bottle at Patricks, batch 117JGB-B. Best before 2011-01-15. It poured a black colour with a medium big off-white creamy head that settled down fast in the glass. Aroma is sweet with notes of malts, yeast and plums. Some hints of pine and chestnuts as well. The flavour is slightly bitter, but in a pine-way, not loaded with hops. Notes of malts, pine, chestnuts and medium dark caramel. it has a short aftertaste.

Bottle. It looks nice in the glass, with an almost clear, dark amber to brown body and a small beige head. Roasted malt, caramel-sweetness and some fruityness, dried fruits, nice hops and a saison-like scent in the aroma. Brown sugar, roasted malts, some spicyness, dried fruits, hops and a nice herbal bitterness in the flavor. Lasting finish with the initial flavors blending nicely with bitternesss and a touch of alcohol warmth. Full body and a pleasant level of carbonation. A nice one, seemingly with inspiration from several big brewing nations, and dangerously easy to drink. (081128)

500 ml bottle. Dark brown with a red hue. Clear. Medium white head that clings to the glass. Rounded raisiny aroma with a yeasty note. Soft maltiness. Toffee, a little chocolate and lots of burnt caramel. Complex, but nicely drinkable.

500ml bottle served at a comfortable drinking temperature at Olympen, Oslo. Nice mahogany body. Thin, off-white head. Modest aroma of sweet dark malts. Satisfying Yuletide feel in flavour with honey, dark malts and a bit of Christmas spices like cinnamon beneath. Ending up with a decent touch of bitter liquorice. Smooth in the mouth. Medium bodied. Food friendly [Lunch with Hjelle and Kolby company, 16.12.2008].
